Ready for vacation

Greetings! We have made it to Friday and it's Casual Friday again for me - made even better because today I work a half day and then I AM ON VACATION!! I am very excited if you couldn't tell. Today's outfit is simple and not terribly special, though I do like this shirt a great deal, it is very fun. I'm also wearing some of my favorite jeans ever, not surprisingly by Ann Taylor LOFT. This stuff just fits like it was made for my body.

After today the blog will be quiet for about a week. Fear not, I am packing some fun clothes for my trip and I will hopefully have some good outfit posts when I come back. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great week and I'll see you all soon!

Today's Rundown:

Shirt: Daytripper (thrifted)

Jeans: LOFT (thrifted)

Sandals: Marshalls

Bracelet: Thrifted

Maxi to the Max

Today we finally have the last of my finds from the 4th of July sale at Cliche. I have been rebelling against the maxi dress for so long, but I finally gave in - especially because this one was very, very cheap and it also reminds me of a dress I had and loved when I was in high school. So, I bought it even though it was a hair too long. Thankfully my mother is pretty good with hems and was able to help me with that! She finally finished it this week.

It's a touch cooler here today finally, giving us a bit of relief from the heatwave, but I've been on such a dress/skirt kick this week I decided that I'd keep it going and since this one is so long, it it is more comfortable since it isn't as hot!

I am shorty as I've mentioned before, so I was unsure if a maxi style dress would work for me, but I think this one does ok, especially because it is layered a bit. The ribbon detailing is so much fun. I really love it.

One more outfit post coming tomorrow before a week long hiatus - going out of town for a bit to visit some family. Getting pretty excited for a vacation!!

Today's Rundown:

Dress: Cliche

Sweater: Old Navy

Bracelet: Thrifted

Yet another sundress!

When it's as hot as it's been here in the usually cold MN area, it's just easy to wear sundresses. They look great with very little effort on my part and they are cool and comfortable! Thank goodness I have a closet full of them!

This particular dress I found at Clothes Mentor towards the end of last summer, so I didn't get to wear it too much, so I've been really enjoying being able to wear it more this year! It's a brand that seems to fit me super well - Ann Taylor - I'd never be able to afford most of Ann Taylor clothes new, so I love it when I find that kind of stuff at places like Clothes Mentor!!

Hope all of you who may also be suffering through a heat wave, as most of the country is right now, are able to stay cool!!

Today's rundown:
Dress - Ann Taylor (thrifted)

Shrug - LEI (thrifted)

Sandals - Thrifted by my mom

Sunglasses - DG from Lillian's

Exotic

This is without a doubt one of my favorite dresses ever. I got it almost two years ago at a Ragstock, in the "new" department, not the "used" department and it is perfect for a hot, muggy day. I love the print - it feels kind of exotic and jungle like to me!

I add the shrug simply for the fact that again, it's air conditioned inside and also, this dress is rather low cut in front, so for work I kind of need to cover up the cleavage. If I was going out with the Pants Monkey or some friends, it wouldn't matter quite as much. Some fun new touches for this standard summer outfit are the purse I picked up this weekend on my thrifting adventures at Clothes Mentor and also the bracelet I found there as well. I'm cool and comfy once again which is important during the hottest week of the summer!

The rundown:

Shrug: Mossimo, Target

Dress: Brand unknown, purchased new at Ragstock

Bracelet: Thrifted from Clothes Mentor

Bag: Axcess by Liz Claiborne (thrifted)

Necklace: Premier Jewelry in home party

Sandals: Target

Sundress on a hot day

Greetings fashion friends! Well I had quite a weekend, how about all of you? I got to do some thrift shopping, some regular shopping and some shopping for a dehumidifier - thank you water in the basement. Oh well. I got some great deals this weekend, I sold some items to Clothes Mentor that I no longer wanted and put the money towards a couple of items I kind of needed and one thing that I just simply wanted. I also hit up a great sale at Old Navy - Spin and Save baby! Plus card members (which I am one of) got to take an additional 10% off their purchase as well. So between my Spin and Save coupon and my 10%, I was a happy camper!

I mostly purchased shorts - I went through a "I am never going to wear shorts again phase" for a little bit, but I decided this summer has been crazy hot and we're going to St. Louis next week where it will likely be hot as well, so I bit the bullet and bought a few pairs. I like to think of these as "grown up" shorts though, I no longer want to wear the kind of shorts that practically show my behind if I bend over!! I'm sure you'll see some of my finds here on the blog at some point!

Overall I was happy with my purchases - one of which I chose to wear today. I have this adorable dress I thrifted at the beginning of the summer, but just didn't have the right thing to wear over it, even if it's hot outside, the air conditioner inside can be chilly at times! So this shrug I found on clearance at Old Navy fits the bill! This outfit is perfect for the very hot and humid day we are having!!

The rundown:

Dress - Forever 21 (thrifted)

Shrug - Old Navy

Sandals - DSW

Watch - Butterfly Boutique

Bracelet, necklace and earrings - Charming Charlie

Have a great day and stay cool!

As girly as it gets

Let's see here, pink, ruffles, shiny, bright - that makes this casual Friday pick pretty darn girly! I love this new top, well new to me top, that I thrifted last month. I hadn't had a chance to wear it yet, but I am seriously in love with it! It's ridiculously feminine, but I don't mind, it makes me feel super pretty! These sandals are super fun too that I thrifted a couple of weeks ago - yes I'm not afraid to thrift shoes, I wash them when I get home! I am finding they aren't the easiest to walk in, but they are so much fun to wear! Finally, these jeans I adore, even if they initially started out too long, I had some help hemming them and I think they work out pretty well! I'm back to my very fun Charming Charlie bag - this has seriously been the best thing I have bought all summer, I love it!

All in all a fun girly outfit that is appropriate for work and also for the bachlorette party I have right after work today! Hope everyone has a good weekend, it will be a hot one here in MN, that's what I know!

Tank - Banana Republic (thrifted)

Shrug - LEI (thrifted)

Black and white

Very simple and basic black and white outfit today! I had to choose pants or capris due to a project I'm working on at the office today that may involve lifting, bending over, and other duties not suited to wearing a skirt. I was also kind of tired today and didn't want to think real hard, so I chose the simple pieces I did, though the accessories I think help it pop a bit more! There is something so crisp and clean feeling about classic black and white, don't you think?

The rundown:

Shirt - Maurices

Capri pants - Mossimo from Target

Watch, necklace, earrings and bracelet - Charming Charlie

Purse - Mossimo from Target

Sunnies - Target

Sandals - DSW

*Note - I need new black sandals in the worst way! I hope to remedy that very soon. Right now these are my only pair which is why you are seeing them all the time!*

Warm, but comfy!

Hello fashion friends! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a good weekend. I sure did - the Josh Groban concert on Friday night was amazing. But today it's back to the grind!

Today's outfit features more of my finds from the Cliche sale. Both the tank top and skirt are compliments of that sale. I think there's only one more piece I haven't shared yet and that one unfortunately requires some alterations, so you might not see it for awhile. It is hot here in MN again, so this outfit is comfortable and cool. I like it a lot!

The Rundown:

White cami - Old Navy

Blue tank - unknown brand, Cliche

Skirt - Nolita, Cliche

Sweater - Lei (Thrifted)

Sandals - DSW

Watch and necklace - Charming Charlie

Well it's Friday!

We have made it to Friday, hurray! Struggled with my pictures a bit today, ended up a little rushed, but I still wanted to share my casual Friday outfit as it has more finds from Cliche. I haven't decided yet or not if today's outfit will also overlap into tonight's Josh Groban concert or not. We'll see how things go! It's also warm out again, so I'm happy to have a nice comfortable tanktop to wear! These jeans are awesome, but they ended up kind of long (I'm 5'2" or so), for now I have them rolled, I may look into getting them hemmed. They fit so well everywhere else though I couldn't pass them up. The bag is an old favorite I picked up from Fun Sisters, a shop that sells kind of "designer inspired" bags about three years ago now. I thought it would be fun for the concert and into the weekend.

Anyway, on we go and Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

Tank top - Billabong (From Cliche sale)

Skirt or skort?

So today we have the first of my finds from this year's big sale at Cliche in Minneapolis. Cutest boutique ever and as I mentioned last week, they have a huge sale every year on the 4th of July with tons of racks of $5.00, $10.00 and $15.00 items that may have retailed for anywhere from $100-$200 originally. This has become a "must attend" event for me and a very good friend (who kindly introduced me to this store!) and I'm so excited about my purchases this year. Today's skirt comes from Cliche, although the Pants Monkey is teasing me and calling it a "skort" because it has built in shorts underneath the skirt. That's right, built in shorts. But you know something? It has made this skirt extremely comfortable while still being somewhat dressy. It may actually become my favorite item of clothing this summer! Stay tuned for more finds from the Cliche sale!

Today's rundown:

Cami - Old Navy

Shirt - Banana Republic (Thrifted)

Skirt/skort - Cliche

Sandals - DSW

Necklace - Butterfly Boutique

Bracelet and watch - Charming Charlie
