Bright orange pumpkin

Happy Halloween!  We don't really do the costume thing in my office, so I instead chose Halloween type colors for today.  I could have gone all black, but instead decided to go with a harvest/pumpkin type feel, so everything was centered around my nice bright orange shirt.

I hope you all had a fun weekend celebrating Halloween and that if you are celebrating tonight, you have a fun and safe time!  We're having drinks with friends but keeping it pretty low key I think.  And then on to November already - where does the time go?

Sassy

Woo hoo it is Friday!  Casual Friday at that.  I gave you a little booty shot today because the back of these jeans are so fun!  A little sparkle, gotta love it!

Busy weekend ahead, our church music group is singing in a Halloween show tomorrow night.  I'll be pseudo dressed at Columbia from Rocky Horror - family friendly show so I won't be going overboard with it, but it should be kind of fun!  Monday night we'll be out with some friends and might just throw together a mishmash of what is in their costume boxes.  That will be interesting anyway.

Have a great weekend!

Green with envy

Bit of green action going on today!  Warm and comfy, you can't go wrong.  I realized today I have had these pants a very, very long time.  They're still in extremely good shape, but I have had them the better part of the last five years.  They are a classic look though and I'll be sad when they do finally start to not look as nice anymore!

I really wanted to wear a skirt today and it's even nice enough outside for it, but not feeling so awesome in the female department if you catch my drift, so pants it is. I added my fun sparkly clogs for a little something special though!

Jewelry rebel

Happy hump day!  So I told you guys I'd be wearing these pants a lot.  Seems I just get them clean from the laundry and I want to wear them again!  Katy at Modly Chic has been doing a "Frequent Flyer" series - items that people wear quite often, and after only owning these pants just over a month, they have definitely become a frequent flyer for me.  You'll see them again and again this winter I'm pretty sure.  They're just so darn comfy, I love the plaid and they look nice!

So I was a rebel and chose to wear my necklace today in a way that is not necessarily recommended by Stella and Dot.  This chain is part of the "La Coco" collection and you're supposed to string it to another necklace and add a brooch and the whole nine yards like that.  But today I wanted a simple silver chain and this is the only one I got.  So I said, I don't care how "they" say you should wear this piece, I'll wear it how I want.  And I think it works!

Glittery rain

The last time I wore this shirt it shed so much glitter everywhere I went - the bathroom rug, my office chair, my car...

Today it doesn't seem quite so bad.  I have been avoiding wearing it again, but I thought, I want something a little sparkly today and if I rain glitter, I rain glitter!

Like a school uniform...

Hola friends!  Here we are on another Monday.  Sure seems we always get back to Monday fast doesn't it?  Oh well.  One week down of not buying anything new.  It's been a little tough so far but I'm getting by!

Today's outfit makes me feel a little Catholic school girlish.  But I like the look, it's cute and of course it's plaid!  The buttons on the skirt are so fun too, I tried to get a picture so you could more easily see the buttons, but it didn't quite turn out.  And my favorite denim Carly Coach bag matches this look perfectly, so I decided to switch back to her for a couple of days anyway!

Rundown:
Blue t-shirt - Old Navy
Light blue button shirt - Charter Club (Macy's, past season)
Skirt - Ann Taylor LOFT (Thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Tights - Target
Shoes - Madden Girl (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Bag - Coach (Ebay)
Necklace - Locket from jerseymaids on Etsy
Headband - Target

And I went shoe shopping with the Pants Monkey this weekend because he just never buys himself new things and he really wanted shoes.  And yes I am on a no buy, but if I can get him to get nice new things for himself, then it is a really good thing.  We got home and he put together this look all by himself and I was pretty impressed!  I asked if I could take his picture to stick on the blog and he said sure.  I don't have a rundown of his stuff though - I just know the shoes are Kenneth Cole from DSW.  So here you go, my handsome husband, the Pants Monkey. :)

Have a great Monday!  Or at least try to make it a good day.  The weekend will be back before we know it!!

Friday outfit post - Roses are red

Wow, my expressions in these pictures are...not reflective of it being Friday, that is for sure.  I am beyond thrilled it is Friday, guess I was just not that focused when doing my photos this morning!  Weird.  Oh well.

So it's Friday!! Casual Friday for me as usual.  And after work I'm meeting up with some college friends for a drink and a little dinner.  Should be a fun time.

So my bag may look new, but I promise it's not!  I went over to my parents house and raided my old closet, also known as "where my purses go to die"  - just kidding, my mom stores a bunch of purses in my old closet, some are hers and some are mine.  Anyway, I actually only bought this one about a year ago and wasn't sure at the time I liked it that much, but I have given it a try this week and so far I like it a little better. It's very, very slouchy and doesn't hold a "shape" super well, but it has lots of room inside and looks cute.  I love the little white buttons and the white/gray stitching detail.  And since I'm not buying new things, re-using one I haven't in months and months is almost as good!

Rundown:
Shirt - Decree from JCPenney (last season)
Jeans - Maurices
Shoes - Madden Girl (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Necklace - Butterfly Boutique
Bag - Lillian's Shoppes

FBFF - Halloween

Today's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday is all about Halloween and costumes - fun!  Some years I am more into Halloween than others.  At any rate, let's dive in and chat about it, shall we?

1. Do you have plans for Halloween? Yes, we are going to one of two bars that has outstanding beer selections on tap with a couple of couples that we hang out with on a regular basis, and in fact we have a "Beer Monday" tradition where we try to meet up once or twice a month or so on Mondays to have a beer and take the sting off the start of a new week.  Since Halloween falls on a Monday it felt appropriate to still meet up for a beer!  One of the couples has boxes of miscellaneous costume pieces so we might just dig through those and put a little something together!  We rarely get trick-or-treaters at our house because our neighborhood is quite elderly so I am not too disappointed for not being home that night either.

2. Where do you go for costume or makeup inspiration?  I'm pretty lame on that front, when I get an idea for a costume, I go to Google and search under images and then try to come up with something based on that!

3. What was the best costume you ever donned?  That would have to be the Rainbow Brite costume I did in 2007.  I am very proud of it because I did the entire thing myself, a pretty big deal because I usually take the cheap route or I get help with the sewing or "putting" together.  I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out.  In 2008 the Pants Monkey and I did Mario and Luigi, that one was pretty fun too and very well received, but he actually did a lot of the work on that one, including making us hats!

4. What is the most creative costume you've ever seen? Boy there have been MANY creative costumes out there.  It is tough to narrow it down.  As a fan of the Muppets I always love seeing people dressed as Muppet characters.  My sister-in-law dressed as Red Fraggle last year and she looked awesome.  Her best friend dressed as Jem (any 80's kids out there?) and she looked really cool too.  I love seeing couples come up with fun themes together, like our Mario and Luigi or even more creative than that like a hot dog and a bun.

5. No holds barred, if you could dress up as anything, what would it be? Tough choice!  I have had a lot of fun with past costumes so it's really hard for me to say what I would dress up as!  I've never done the Disney princess thing, so it might be fun to be Cinderella or Belle from Beauty and the Beast and an excuse to wear a big pretty gown.  Or I haven't done the Muppet thing before - I could do Miss Piggy or be really weird and go for like Cookie Monster or something!  Like I said though, this year will be a mismash of what we find at our friend's house!

Happy (early) Halloween!

From one season to another

Last time I wore this skirt it was still quite warm out!  Today it is chilly, so tights and long sleeves it is!  This is one of the many reasons I like this skirt though, it transcends seasons!  I also think I've found my new "studio".  Something about the lighting in the old mail room is working quite well for me at the moment!  Of course, I say that now and tomorrow's pictures will probably not be that good, but you never know!  Knock on wood I guess!

My neck is better today, but it's not quite perfect yet.  I hope it continues to loosen up and get better.  I'm sure carrying a big old bag doesn't help, though I try to keep my purses not too full and heavy!

In other news, starting on Monday this week I put myself on a strict "no-buy" for the next month.  I have been kind of frivolous with my spending as of late, even with thrifting, and I want to prove to the Pants Monkey I can afford a Smartphone, so from Oct 17-Nov 17, I am not buying anything that isn't essential to daily life.  Plus my birthday is November 25th, so this just gives more gift options for people right?  You might wonder why I picked November 17th as my end date?  One of the local radio stations here is releasing an annual CD that has live performances from various artists, only so many copies are made and sold and the money goes to charity.  I get one of these CDs every year with a friend of mine.  November 17th is the day it comes out this year.  So there you go.  One month of "no buy".  It'll force me to "remix" my own wardrobe a bit, not all bad!

Rundown:
Pink shirt - Forever 21
Cardigan - "A" brand purchased at Herbergers several seasons back
Skirt - INC Concepts (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Tights - Target
Shoes - SO from Kohls
Necklace - La Coco Collection from Stella and Dot

Are you a fan of delicious flavor?

I don't know why, but for some reason my outfit today reminds me of one of my favorite shows, Psych and that is where the title of this post came from.  Kind of a long story, but yeah, all the green in today's outfit makes me think a little of pineapple and there is a running gag with pineapples on that show.  If you've never watched, you're missing out.  Today is even the day it airs on USA Network - though I won't watch until tomorrow since I do not have the cable television.

So I had left my tripod at work yesterday and I was bummed because this morning I got myself ready in plenty of time to take my pictures at home.  When I realized that I have forgotten my tripod I was disappointed, but just took my time and enjoyed my breakfast more.  When I got to work I scoped out a better spot to try and take some pictures and I'm actually pretty pleased with how these turned out today - I used our old mail room and it worked out pretty well.  Back story - the entire second floor of my building is scheduled for renovation in 2012 and sits empty right now.  And because I am on the facilities team I can pretty much go wherever I want.  So, all things considered, these aren't so bad!

The only other bummer today is I messed up my neck while I was sleeping - you ever do that?  I can barely hold my head up straight right now, which I don't know if you can tell in my pictures or not.  I'll be trying to get it stretched out all day I think!

Happy Wednesday - halfway through the work week!

Owl do my best today...

Well due to my own dragging this morning I was running behind and had to quick snap all my pictures when I got to work.  I haven't done pictures at work for so long and now I remember why I don't like to!  Anyway, it is what it is.

I love thermal shirts.  And it is quite cold outside today, so a thermal shirt is a good choice.  I have had this one for quite awhile now, but how can you not love the little owl design on it?  I did add a sweater though because my office has yet to figure out the heat stuff this year. And it loses the cuteness factor since it covers the owl.  So not the most exciting outfit ever, but hey, I'm warm.  I'm comfortable.  That's enough for today!

Rundown:
Shirt - Old Navy (many seasons old)
Pants - Juniors section at Herbergers (removed tag, bought several years ago)
Sweater - Lands End
Shoes - Naturalizer (handed down by my mom)
