Vacation Brain

Oh you guys.  I am so on vacation brain right now.  And let me tell you, I just need this break coming up so much!  Work was a challenge this week, my teething toddler son made mealtimes a bit of a challenge this week, I am just so spent.  I'm really looking forward to getting to Itasca and just unwinding and getting tons of one on one time with my two favorite men (even if I did just complain about one of them!)

I have a few posts scheduled for while I'm gone, so you will probably hardly notice my not being here, though other than that I plan to kind of go bare minimum on social media for the next week. I will likely Instagram/Facebook some pictures of our adventures a bit because that's what I do, but I'm trying to really embrace the "getting away from it all" kind of idea, so I'm hoping to give online stuff a little break, though I'm sure I'll be itchy to catch up with everyone after a few days!

Now here's hoping this work day doesn't drag and that the adventure of packing for a week in a cabin goes as smoothly as it can over the weekend.  Coffee will be fueling these things quite a bit I think!

I'll miss you all and wish you could all come with me!!  See you soon!

Thrift Style Thursday - Pastel-y

The theme this week for Thrift Style Thursday was chosen by Kristi of Delightfully Kristi - Pastels.  I have no problem with pastels, but I have found lately I don't actually own a lot of them.  I go for more bold and bright colors these days it seems.  I'm also very fair skinned, so I tend to avoid super light shades so I don't look too washed out.  Anyway, here is what I came up with, it's probably borderline pastel, but I did my best!

It's funny, while we were enjoying our anniversary dinner last night I mentioned to Nate that the theme for today was pastels and I wasn't sure what I was going to wear yet.  I kind of had this skirt in the back of my head though, because while it isn't super pale, the fabric reminds me of something pastel because of how light and linen like it is.  Nate said to me "how about something salmon?"  To which I said "well, that's not really pastel" but I still thought it was funny because I was totally thinking about this skirt!

Shirt - Xhilaration (Thrifted), Skirt - Banana Republic (ThredUp)
Sandals - Target, Necklace - Lia Sophia

I was pretty excited about how well this cute top matches this skirt too.  I just found it at the thrift store the other day and didn't even have this skirt in mind to wear it with.  I actually thought I'd end up mostly wearing it with jeans or something, so this was a pleasant surprise!  I thought the lighter color blue also kind of felt pastel like too.

So there you have it!  I feel light and springy and I think that is what pastels are all about!  Be sure to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday ladies at their blogs below to see what they came up with for pastels this week!

The dance continues

Nine years ago in front of our family and friends, Nate and I made our "thing" official and became husband and wife.  Since then, my feet haven't touched the ground.  The music keeps playing and we keep dancing, whether it's upbeat and fast, slow and romantic, or even if it's something with complex steps, we just keep dancing.  We'll never stop!

Happy anniversary to my favorite dance partner, my favorite adventure sidekick,
and my favorite everything!

Weekend Snapshots

Three day weekends are lovely aren't they?  We certainly made the most of ours!  I wish all weekends could be three days long, seriously!  Here are some snapshots from our weekend - I apologize if you follow me on Instagram, these are going to be some repeats.

Friday was an absolutely gorgeous day.  We definitely took advantage of the weather and ate outside at a restaurant with a patio we like and then stopped at a park with Ollie on the way home.  This park had a different kind of swing than what he's used to, but he kind of dug it cause he could just kind of lay back and chill!

After we got home and got him off to bed, Nate built us a lovely fire in our firepit and we sat out for a couple of hours enjoying each other's company and a little of the Norseman Strawberry Rhubarb Gin that was just released - local peeps, I'm not much of a gin fan, but this stuff is amazing and makes a great gin and tonic, you should check it out!

Saturday morning Nate got up and golfed with my dad and "brother" Dave while my mom and I took Ollie on some errands with us.  After Nate got back and Ollie had napped, we went to a barbecue at a friend's house, though the weather wasn't super great.  Ollie still had fun chasing their puppies and causing general mayhem though!

Sunday the weather really turned sour, so we ventured over to the Children's Museum with Nate's parents for a little bit.  Ollie looked for more puppies in the big doghouse, but he didn't manage to find any.

We had lunch with Nate's parents and then headed home.  While Ollie napped I met up with Zhenya (Being Zhenya) and we finally purchased the items for our Gift of Thrift winner.  I'm super excited about the items we're sending, I sure hope our winner likes them!  I also snatched up a few things for myself since I haven't technically put myself on a shopping ban quite yet.  Then I headed home and we took Ollie over the mall to walk around a bit since it was STILL raining.  We had spaghetti for dinner and then got him off to bed and we zoned out to a movie.

Monday it was finally not raining, so we attempted disc golf in the morning, but holy was the park WET.  Ollie thought the puddles were the best thing ever of course.  We only played a few holes before I called it (it's not fun walking around in wet socks and shoes unless you've been on a water ride or something!).  We dried out at home a little and then went to get me some new walking shoes before our trip next week.  Then we met up with Nate's sister and her boyfriend for a quick lunch.

After Ollie's nap, it was finally nice outside again, so after a quick trip to get some stuff for dinner, he and I played outside while Nate cooked and I introduced him to the magical world of bubbles.  And I think I have my newest favorite picture of him ever.

As Chandler from Friends might say "could this child BE any happier?"  It was the best way to end the weekend I thought!  We also hit up the park too, but the bubbles were the highlight, hands down.

So it was a great and somewhat productive three day weekend even if it was mostly wet.  And of course, I don't forget the reason we had a three day weekend in the first place - thank you to all the men and women who have served and paid the ultimate price.

On we go into what could be either a fast week or one that drags because our vacation is so close we can taste it!!

Friday Five - Summer Wish List

So, I might be considering a shopping ban for summer, but I haven't decided when/if I'll start it and not to mention, it's fun to make a summer wish list, so today's Friday Five features five items currently on my radar for summer!

I don't know why, but a blue gingham shirt is calling my name.  I've been trying to not collect as many purses and handbags, but something fun like this Stella and Dot green tote would be a fun addition to my closet.  I have so much red/peach/coral, something in green would be a fun change!  A new necklace would also be fun, one of my favorite pink floral necklaces broke (thanks to a young boy named Ollie) so this pretty one would be a good replacement!  I am still on the fence on the palazzo pants, I've tried some on a couple of times now and I might be ready to bite the bullet and go for it on these fun ones from Target.  And finally, I had a black lace skirt last summer that I loved, but it was just a bit too short and the zipper broke, so I'd like to replace it with one that is just a hair longer so I can feel a little more comfortable wearing it to work.

Summer Wishlist

So, there you have it!  I'm not sure if I'll actually add any of these items to my closet or not, but if I find a good deal you just never know.  I figure my actual "no shop" summer will start after my vacation, so I have time to add these things yet.  Memorial Day sales maybe??
Have a great weekend everyone!!
