What I Wore to Russian Easter

So I am sharing an outfit that is almost two weeks old already.  Because I can. And because I *cough* might not actually be working today due to needing to waste more time off *cough*.  Anyway, a couple of Sundays ago was Russian Orthodox Easter.  The Pants Monkey's late grandfather was Russian Orthodox, so we decided to keep celebrating in his honor.  Of course, this was the weekend the Pants Monkey was sadly out of town, so I went and represented the both of us (and evilly texted him pictures of the lovely Russian and Polish goodies he was missing out on).

It was a little chilly that day because that has been the name of the game this spring until this week.  I found this sweater on clearance at Target and decided I needed it.  I adore this color.  I received many compliments that day as well.  And it was nice and roomy for all the food I ended up eating!

Sweater and t-shirt - Mossimo, Target
Jeans - Old Navy
Shoes - Dr. Scholl's, DSW
Bag - Lillians Shoppes
Necklace - swap w/CC

I also decided to get a close up of my awesome new flats so you can see their brilliance.  EVERY color I own is in these shoes.  Perfect shoes ever?  I think so!

And in case you are wondering, I was a good wife and brought home some leftovers for my poor Pants Monkey.  He was very appreciative!

Does your family celebrate a holiday that isn't the norm?

  1. Those are FANTASTIC shoes, and I of course love the bag! We don't do much in the way of religion. But May and June are filled with Birthdays and Anniversaries!

  3. I love that outfit! The shoes are cute. Well my family celebrates New Year's Day. Yep, on January 1st we head up to St. Cloud where all of my cousins and some aunts and uncles get together. We even have a turkey and all the fixings. I don't know too many people that celebrate with their families on New Year's Day.

  10. Best flats ever!
My grandmother was Ukrainian orthodox so she tells stories of orthodox holiday celebrations, but since orthodox Christmas falls on my birthday (which is also my uncle's birthday and my great-aunt's birthday) we still have "family" time through phone calls that day!

  11. I love that long cardi so much! It looks lightweight too, which would be perfect for the springy weather we are (finally) experiencing here. And you're right, those flats would work perfectly with anything! What a great statement shoe :)

My family doesn't even celebrate the normal holidays very effectively. We just go "okay, food? Food." and eat!

  13. My husband and I have been celebrating Groundhog Day together for 13 years. Sometimes we throw a party, and some years it's just us. We watch the Bill Murray movie and decorate half with winter snowflakes and half with spring flowers. It's always a lot of fun!

I love your shoes, and I completely agree that they're perfect. I only wear flats now.

  16. While I am not Russian, I am Orthodox & our Easter was on May 5th as well. My Current Outfit with the Yellow Dress is what I wore that day. =)

Anyway you look lovely. I really like the color & length of the Cardigan & those Flats are awesome, but perhaps no socks next time?

  17. Yes, you needed that cardi! Such a beautiful colour on you. And those flats? I want! They really pop out at you, zing-style.

I don't think I do celebrate any unusual holidays - the only I can think of is St David's Day, patron saint of Wales, when I wear a daffodil all day. My Mum is Welsh and so I am a bit Welsh.
