Short and sweet

So the Pants Monkey is letting me try out his digital SLR.  Might give me a few days to get a hang of it, but I think I'll like the results once I do!

Very simple outfit today.  Not that there is anything wrong with that!  Looking forward to the weekend, going to be a crazy one, have a wedding, a golf tournament and a friend's benefit to go to, but I expect to enjoy all of it!

Rundown:
Sweater - Evie (thrifted by my mom and then handed on to me)
T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - Old Navy

Jewels

Picture heavy post today!  There are just so many individual elements that make up this outfit I wanted to highlight as many as I could.  And I wasn't able to do an outfit post yesterday so this makes up for it!  Or something like that.  Anyway, this is another simple, dressier outfit that is made even better by adding a few accessories.  I wasn't sure if I'd like my new Stella and Dot necklace with it, but in the end I think it actually is quite lovely!  I haven't experimented much with different ways of wearing it yet, but I hopefully will do that soon.

The other thing I love here is that the only expensive jewelry I'm wearing is my Stella and Dot piece.  The rest came from Charming Charlie.  I think it actually says something about Charming Charlie that their items can be worn side by side with more expensive high end pieces!  Just something interesting I noticed.

Very happy to be halfway through the week already!  It will be rather warm out there today, so I chose a short sleeve sweater, warm enough for the cool start to the day, but comfortable when it gets a little warmer later!

Today's outfit:
Shirt - Talbots (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Pants - Style and Co. from Macy's (two seasons ago)
Shoes - Maurices (two seasons ago)
Earrings, watch, bracelet - Charming Charlie (this summer)
Necklace - Stella and Dot Adrienne Mixed Chain

Layered

Whew it's Monday again.  How does that always happen so fast?  Anyway, quicky outfit post today, I went with a very layered look as it started out cool this morning but may be warming up a little this afternoon.  Fall  in MN, gotta love it.

Rundown:
Purple shirt - Donna brand (not sure where it's from, was handed down from my cousin)
Button shirt - Mossimo from Target (last season)
Skirt - Old Navy (Last season)
Shoes - Merona from Target (thrifted)
Necklace and earrings - Stella and Dot

Happy Autumn!!

Today is the official Autumnal Equinox!  So happy Autumn one and all!  It really is my very favorite time of year!  I didn't choose very Autumn/Fall like colors today though.  Oh well!

And it's Friday!  So it's also Casual Friday - yippee!  I'm missing out on FBFF again this week - they are talking about clothing items you have "Re-fashioned" in some way.  I do have a couple of options for that - though one item is a pair of jeans I did some fun stuff to last year and sadly they aren't fitting so well these days.  I don't mind though, I still feel comfortable in my own skin and I have plenty of clothes that DO fit well and look nice! The other option is some jeans I've turned into capri pants and well, it's chilly outside today! Anyway, my plan is to get back to FBFF next week!

In the meantime, have a great weekend!

Today's rundown:
Gray shirt - Mossimo from Target (last year)
Jacket - White House, Black Market (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Necklace - La Coco Collection from Stella and Dot (still available)
Jeans - Maurices
Shoes - Thrifted from Clothes Mentor

How you sparkle

So today I took it outside!  And the results are...ok.  I really will figure out this photography stuff one of these days (or I'll get a new camera for my birthday in November, ha).

Anyway, the picture doesn't do it justice, but man is this shirt SPARKLY.  I'm raining glitter everywhere I go.  It's a fun shirt though, definitely helping perk up a gray day.  I've got my sparkly "suicide" shoes on again too, and they almost lived up to their name this morning - my deck was slippery as it as a bit wet.  Fortunately I did not have any incidents!

Shirt - INC Concepts (thrifted with original tags still on from Savers)
Pants - Alfani (Macy's - almost five years ago)
Shoes - Steve Madden (thrifted from Savers)
Bag - Thrifty Sisters (Fun Sisters outlet in Pequot Lakes, MN)
Necklace - Leather cord and charm from Stella and Dot
Bracelet - Thrifted from Clothes Mentor

Perfectly Plaid

This may be a slightly casual outfit for a regular workday, but I'm tired, so I chose comfort over super dressy and "put together" I guess!  I am in love with these plaid pants I thrifted over Labor Day - cause well, as you know, I adore plaid.  Anyway, it works well enough for today!

T-shirt: off brand from Herbergers junior's dept
Sweater: Mossimo from Target (several years old)
Pants: No Boundaries (thrifted)
Shoes: Madden Girl (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Necklace: Butterfly Boutique

Just playing around

So reading someone else's blog yesterday I had gotten an idea of a setting to play with on my point and shoot camera that I thought would give me better pictures...yeah I was wrong.  Oh well.  They'll just have to be a little off today!  I'll switch back tomorrow.

I have another one of my new Stella and Dot goodies today.  This is the Adrienne necklace.  What is awesome about it is it is one long strand that can be tied up multiple ways, almost like a scarf.  It may even be a hair too dressy for this outfit, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Today marks the first day that tights are making an appearance.  It's supposed to be windy out today so I thought I might be chilly if I didn't wear them.  I'm sad that the pictures aren't showing the detail of my skirt - it's a tweed pattern that I adore.  Oh well, I'll be wearing this one frequently through fall and winter so you'll see it again!

Today's rundown:
Shirt - Alfani (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Skirt - Ann Taylor (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Tights - unknown
Shoes - Maurices (two seasons ago)
Necklace and earrings - Stella and Dot
Watch - Charming Charlie

Fun new things!

I'm back!  Had a nice weekend away for a bit but now I'm back to the grind again.  I missed doing FBFF on Friday, but there was no way I could've squeezed that out before I left that day!

Before I left town on Friday my pretty new things from Stella and Dot showed up!  So, my hope is to showcase some of it this week.  Today I have on earrings and a necklace that I just got.  And, I'm also wearing another freebie from my cousin too!  So it's just a fun outfit full of new things!  And perfect colors for Fall!

Rundown:
T-shirt - Old Navy
Sweater - Zashi (new with tags on handed down from my cousin, not sure where it was purchased)
Pants - Ann Taylor (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Bracelet, Necklace and earrings - Stella and Dot (all currently available)

My "suicide" shoes

Want to know what I love the most about this outfit?  It cost me next to nothing to put together.  The only thing I paid for in this entire outfit are the shoes, the watch and one of the bracelets. The rest of it was handed down or gifted to me!  I am not complaining!

I love, love, LOVE these shoes I thrifted last fall.  The Pants Monkey likes to call them my "Suicide" shoes though, because I had a bad habit of tripping in them and even fell down once.  I can admit it.  They are clogs though and I do have a hard time in clogs on occasion.  Still, they are fun shoes and they make me taller which I like and they only cost me $4!!!  You just can't beat that.

This weekend we're heading to a cabin with some friends, and I don't plan on being terribly fashionable up there, it's going to be a jeans and sweatshirt weekend and that is just fine with me, sometimes a break is good!

Today's rundown:
Cami - Mossimo for Target (gift)
Shirt - Coldwater Creek (handed down/passed along)
Pants - Alfani from Macy's (gift)
Shoes - Steve Madden (thrifted from Savers)
Necklace - Jerseymaids on Etsy (gift)
Bracelets - Stella and Dot and gift
Watch - Mudd from Kohls

New changes

I promise, I don't have "Design ADD"!!

I'm working to make this blog the most visually appealing - I know that so often blogs are more appreciated for their overall look than so much the content in them.

I welcome any feedback - I can only improve. :)

Old friends

Every item I'm wearing today I have owned for several years at this point, but they are old favorites that I bring out each year since they continue to be in good condition.  They're like old friends, I look forward to seeing them again each Fall!

In other "clothing" news in my life, two exciting things happened yesterday.  First, I made my order for Stella and Dot and I am sooooo excited to have all my pretty new jewelry.  But the even more exciting thing was my mom called and said my cousin had a bag of clothes that she didn't want anymore and wondered if I could use them for work.  They are nice clothes because she's a high powered executive.  So I went over to my parents house and tried stuff on and came home with almost the entire bag, there were only a couple of things that didn't really work.  One of the things she had never even worn and it had original tags.  I say you are never too old for hand me downs!!  Big huge thanks to my cousin K.  She's a rockstar!  You'll see some of the items here on the blog soon I am sure.

Today's outfit:
T-shirt - Mossimo from Target
Jacket - Polo Ralph Lauren purchased at Burlington Coat Factory
Pants - American Eagle Outfittters
Shoes - DSW

Halfway through my week!

New Blogger is frustrating me - it's uploading some of my pictures sideways even though I saved them the right way!  So I had three good pictures today and sadly, you only get two.  Arrg.  Oh well.

It's like Hump Day for me today!  I'm not complaining!  We're heading to a cabin with friends on Friday, so I only have to work four days this week.

Fall weather made a comeback today!  I love cooler temps!  I'm still comfortable in bare legs though!  I love how my Stella and Dot necklace really dresses this outfit up.  Speaking of which, my party went well, closed it out yesterday and now I get to order pretty new goodies for myself!  Pretty excited about that!  Other than that, just pressing on with the week!

Today's outfit:
Black t-shirt - Mossimo for Target (purchased late in season last year)
Blazer - American Eagle (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
Skirt - Cliche
Necklace - Stella and Dot
Sandals - Thrifted from Clothes Mentor

Summer's last hurrah?

Today was one of those days my camera did not want to cooperate at home and every picture I took there was fuzzy and yuck.  So I snapped these two real quick when I got to work and actually, they aren't half bad!  Better than the last time I took pictures in my office!

So I think summer is having it's last hurrah today, the forecast high is 90.  By Wednesday, the forecast high is 50.  What a swing in temps!  I decided to pull out this dress for another go round, it's definitely made more fall like with the orange sweater, so I might be able to bring it out again before the snow flies!

The rundown:
Sweater - Decree from JcPenney
Dress - Cliche
Bracelets - Thrifted and Stella and Dot
Necklace - DIY by me
