Weekend Snapshots

We had a BUSY weekend between the last Mass with our music group and a second round of Easter with Nate's family.  Not to mention, we like to jam in as much family time for our little family of three too!  So, because my brain is a bit mush today, I'll just share our weekend in photographs!

Friday was the first nice day we'd had all of last week, so Ollie and I waited outside for Nate to come home and played around in our yard a bit.  We gotta get this kid some outdoor toys stat, but he still liked running around and playing with leaves in sticks in his too big for him Elmo hat.

I can't believe how much he looks like a little boy here.  Sitting in a big boy chair waiting for dinner (supervised, he still sits in a high chair to eat).

Ollie and I enjoyed some Saturday morning snuggles.  I can't resist him in his fuzzy pajamas, I want to give him all the cuddles.  Most of the time he resists, but when he's willing, we snuggle.

We went to our Science Museum for a bit on Saturday morning. We have a membership, but haven't used it much since we got our Children's Museum membership.  We wanted to give Ollie somewhere different to run around, so we decided to give it a go.  He wasn't super impressed, but still had fun running around a bit.  I found a chair I think I need in my house, what do you think?

Sunday morning we got up and played our first round of disc golf for the year.  Ollie rode in his stroller for a little bit, but decided to get out and play a bit too and loved it.  We brought his little mini-discs and he thought he was pretty cool.

He eventually decided his little discs were no fun and wanted to go for mommy and daddy's discs instead!  I'm pretty impressed, he didn't slow us down too much and walked probably eight of the twelve holes at the park.  He had a lot of fun.

Later on Sunday morning we celebrated Orthodox Easter with Nate's extended family.  Even though his grandfather, the only relative who was actually Russian Orthodox, is no longer with us, we keep this tradition up in his honor.  It was nice to see a bunch of the extended family we haven't seen in awhile and Ollie had fun looking for Easter eggs and playing with his bigger cousins.  He took a nice long nap after his exciting morning!

This last picture, while blurry, makes me laugh.  After his nap, we were cleaning up Ollie's room a bit and put away our latest order of diapers (buying them by the case is such a good way to go!) and he was being goofy and playing in the box.  He laughed so much he gave himself the hiccups.

We ended our weekend with a walk in the park and burgers on the grill for dinner.  We all slept pretty dang well last night after our busy weekend and so much time outside!  How was your weekend?

Easter in Pictures

Hello!  Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great Easter weekend.  We did!  It was pretty low key and relaxed, but that's just the way I like it.  I wanted to share some photos we took yesterday in between church and our brunch, because I loved not just my outfit, but Oliver's as well.  My only regret is we didn't get any pictures of Nate because he was more or less behind the camera!

He wasn't crazy about the hat at first, but then seemed willing to keep it on, so even though it was chilly out, we headed outside to take some more pictures.  So, lots of pictures coming, few words.

I love how our outfits ended up coordinated more or less.  My dress is from Target, they had a great BOGO on dresses a couple of weeks ago.  Ollie's entire outfit is Carter's except his hat is from Target as well.

Seriously, he's such a heartbreaker.  Watch out ladies!

Anyway, we had a great day, we had brunch with my parents, then let Ollie take a nap and Nate built a little bonfire for the two of us.  We went for a walk even though it was chilly and then just grilled some hamburgers for dinner.  I'm beginning to really appreciate these low key, laid back holidays!

How was your weekend and Easter?

What I Wore to Russian Easter

So I am sharing an outfit that is almost two weeks old already.  Because I can. And because I *cough* might not actually be working today due to needing to waste more time off *cough*.  Anyway, a couple of Sundays ago was Russian Orthodox Easter.  The Pants Monkey's late grandfather was Russian Orthodox, so we decided to keep celebrating in his honor.  Of course, this was the weekend the Pants Monkey was sadly out of town, so I went and represented the both of us (and evilly texted him pictures of the lovely Russian and Polish goodies he was missing out on).

It was a little chilly that day because that has been the name of the game this spring until this week.  I found this sweater on clearance at Target and decided I needed it.  I adore this color.  I received many compliments that day as well.  And it was nice and roomy for all the food I ended up eating!

Sweater and t-shirt - Mossimo, Target
Jeans - Old Navy
Shoes - Dr. Scholl's, DSW
Bag - Lillians Shoppes
Necklace - swap w/CC

I also decided to get a close up of my awesome new flats so you can see their brilliance.  EVERY color I own is in these shoes.  Perfect shoes ever?  I think so!

And in case you are wondering, I was a good wife and brought home some leftovers for my poor Pants Monkey.  He was very appreciative!

Does your family celebrate a holiday that isn't the norm?

Easter Greetings

Hello everyone! Been a little quiet on this here blog the last couple of days, I've been busily enjoying some time away from work and also singing a LOT at church.  Today is much quieter, we were able to enjoy a nice brunch and will be heading to my parents for Easter dinner a bit later.  I did want to share the outfit I wore to last night's Easter Vigil service though!  Picture credits to Mr. Monkey instead of my tripod for once!

Dress - Axcess by Clairborne, thrifted
Sweater - H&M, thrifted
Shoes - Mossimo, thrifted
Necklace - S&D

I knew it would be a little chilly in the church, so the sweater was kind of needed.  I was glad too, while it was nice and warm during the day yesterday, by the time the Mass was over, the temp had dropped big time outside!

I want to also wish each of you a very happy and blessed Easter whether you're celebrating the Resurrection or are happily enjoying the goodies the Easter Bunny left you.  Both ways are OK in my book!  Now I'm off to nosh on a yummy ham dinner!  I'll catch up with all of you this week as I'll be back to my normal blogging schedule!

Easter part deux

We celebrated Easter again yesterday with the Pants Monkey's family.  It was a nice afternoon, we ate a ton of food and I'm pretty much good on ham now for the next little while!  I love me some ham, but yeah, I've had enough of it after two big ham dinners in a row!

It was semi warm, humid and mostly wet yesterday, but I knew that Mr. Monkey's grandmother's house would be very warm, so I dressed appropriately.  I think I kind of look like an Easter egg with the color choices, but I don't mind.  It felt springy and happy.

I was excited on Saturday when I went to the mail and this awesome necklace that I won from Lori's giveaway had arrived.  I kind of planned my Easter outfit around it, not going to lie!

It was also another opportunity to show off my pretty green pedicure and some new sandals.  I received many compliments on the necklace.  I can't wait to wear it again!

Outfit rundown:
Sweater and cami - Arizona Jean Co, JCPenney
Jeans - Old Navy (thrifted)
Necklace - The Minty Koala (won in giveaway)
Bracelets - Stella and Dot, Bead for Life
Sandals - Italian Shoemakers via DSW

So after some wacky weather yesterday complete with severe storms, today we woke up to 30ish degrees and snow flurries.  Oh yes, there were snow flurries.  So, my outfit today is nothing special, it was chosen simply for warmth.  And I had to get creative since I packed away a lot of my winter clothing already!

I know you're all probably surprised I'm not doing two birds' Inspiration Monday - I just couldn't come up with something I liked for today's choice.  I do encourage you to head on over to their blog though and see what other ladies are doing with it today!

Fortunately this return to winter is only supposed to last through today.  Thank goodness for that.  Once you start wearing sandals it's hard to go back to shoes!

Outfit rundown:
T-shirt - Axcess by Claiborne (thrifted)
Sweater - "A" via Herbergers
Pants - Worthington, JCPenney
Necklace - Maurices
Shoes - Sonoma, Kohls

Inspiration Monday (If you squint)

This isn't my best Inspiration Monday interpretation, but I did my best!  So here is Miranda Kerr - another person I'm not really sure of who she is, but I love her comfy chic outfit here.  I do not have awesome leopard print skinnies, but then again, I'm not quite sure if I could pull them off, lol!

So for my look, I chose my dark skinnies, the sweater I wore with my Easter dress (since it was after church and we were going to my parents for dinner) and a plain ole t-shirt.  It was a very comfy outfit for stuffing myself with a big ham dinner!

It ended up being a really lovely day yesterday, I thought it might end up colder, but it wasn't too bad.  We had a really nice dinner with my parents and somehow got sucked into the Masters with my dad.  I tell you, nothing makes you feel older than suddenly finding golf entertaining.  But the last hour was a serious nail biter - it was really kind of an edge of the seat thing!  I'm excited that Bubba Watson won, I liked his pink golf club, he he.  I think it helps that we play golf, so it makes watching it a little more interesting anyway.  Or I've just cemented my fate as the biggest nerd you ever met.

Speaking of nerdy things - I will soon be posting my first ever VLOG!!  I'm quite excited about it, I think it turned out ok, I'll get better with practice.  So stay tuned, I need to figure out how to get it from my iPhone to YouTube and then I'll bring it here!  Wee!!

Outfit rundown:
T-shirt - thrifted Target stock
Sweater - Liz Claiborne
Jeans - Maurices
Socks - Target
Shoes - DSW
Bracelet - Stella and Dot
Sunnies - F21

In your Easter bonnet

Hello peeps! Happy Easter! I hope you are having a wonderful day either hunting eggs, attending church, eating ham or just relaxing on a Sunday! I hadn't intended to blog today, but  I wanted to share my Easter dress with you all.

I bought it about three years ago for my anniversary with the Pants Monkey - and I realized today I don't remember where I bought it!  Gasp!  Oh well.  I received many compliments on it at church this morning.

I also have fun new shoes from my cousin too.  Yes, we also wear the same size shoe.  These bad boys are very fun - but not the most comfortable thing ever.  My feet were ready for a break after church was over!  I'm dressing down for dinner at my parents!

See what I mean - they are pretty awesome shoes though right?  As my grandmother would say "sometimes we have to suffer to be beautiful."

The necklace was a Christmas gift from my in-laws.  It's nice and simple, which is good sometimes! I wear a lot of statement jewelry, but sometimes I like something not so flashy.

Oh there's this one other thing about today.....

I CAN SHOP AGAIN!  WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!

Outfit rundown:
Dress - not sure (old)
Sweater - Liz Claiborne
Shoes - Anne Klein (from cousin)
Necklace - Patina (gift from in-laws)
Bracelet - Stella and Dot

40 days and 40 nights

I went for a rather subdued look for casual Friday today because it is Good Friday and in the Christian faith it's a reflective kind of day.  I promise though, I'm not here to shove my religion down anyone's throat as I want all to feel comfortable and welcome here.  Anyway, it didn't feel right to wear flashy colors today and this shirt will look nice when I go to Good Friday service later tonight.

Now Easter Sunday on the other hand - I have a fun outfit planned with a colorful dress because that is a day of celebration in the church.  And it's going to be chilly here in MN on Sunday, but I am still wearing my dress no matter what!  That's why we have nylons right?  I need to paint my little toes before then too because even if I wear nylons, I may break out sandals for the first time this year.

Easter Sunday also marks something pretty huge and significant for me - my 40 day shopping ban will be OVER!!  Now if that isn't a cause for celebration, I don't know what is!  Honestly I don't plan to go crazy, I've mentioned before I might look into a monthly budget to try to help me not go overboard.  Because I still need a new laptop and that is going to take priority.  Just another paycheck and I *think* I might finally be able to order it!  Fingers crossed! (going for a Macbook Air - them bad boys are SPENDY).

Tomorrow my mom is helping me reorganize my closet (and pull out things I don't wear anymore) - figured that is the first step before actually being able to go shopping again right?  If we find enough things worth selling off, I might take a load over to Clothes Mentor or maybe I'll save some pieces for a swap (hint hint MN girls).  At any rate I'm looking forward to making sense of my closet again - after the bag of goodies from my cousin it's just gotten to be a bit of a mess!  And isn't my mom nice to help me with this task on her BIRTHDAY of all days?  She's the best!

And then back to Easter, we'll be with my parents for a nice quiet dinner as the Pants Monkey's parents will be out of town.  We'll celebrate with his family next Sunday, which is Russian Easter (his grandfather was Russian Orthodox).  Double the ham for me!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a wonderful Easter if you celebrate - whether it's in a faith filled manner or in a bunnies and eggs type manner!

Outfit rundown:
Shirt - Christopher and Banks (from cousin)
Jeans - Old Navy
Bracelet and earrings - Charming Charlie
Shoes - Rampage, DSW
