Thrift Style Thursday - Off Book

Well, it's Thrift Style Thursday and the theme this week is super fun - Beach Wear - but I'm going off book for a couple of reasons - I really don't have any thrifted beach wear and also, I'm not really going to the beach anytime soon!  Instead I went more for a "this is what I'd wear to a picnic by the water" kind of look today.  And oh hello, office selfies.  We haven't done this in awhile!  Best laid plans on getting pictures elsewhere, so I figured I'd cuddle up to my friend the Shred Bin for the first time in a while.  Keeping it real folks!

I was inspired by Robin from Frannie Pantz to wear my denim vest with a sundress.  I haven't done this look in awhile and yes, it does feel a little more 1995 than 2005, but maybe we'll say I'm doing Throwback Thursday for Thrift Style Thursday?

Dress - Old Navy (thrifted), Vest - Vintage Lee (Mighty Swell Vintage)
Bag - Merona (Target), Scarf - Target, Sandals - Marshalls

Whatever vibe I'm channeling here I liked the look, it's comfy and fresh for summer.  And I'll just dream of being at the beach instead of the office!

Thrift Style Thursday - America the Beautiful

Megan of Traverse suggested our Thrift Style Thursday theme this week to be America the Beautiful in honor of the July 4th holiday (or Canadian Pride for our Canada ladies!) so it was pretty much a given to me that my outfit would be red, white and blue and have an Americana feel to it!

I knew right away I'd be wearing this dress I thrifted a few years ago.  It's been a favorite of mine for awhile now, Nate always compliments me when I wear it!  I even managed to wear this one when I was pregnant too, so it's a pretty great dress all around!  I decided to pair it with this fun top my sweet Instagram buddy sent me, I thought it matched pretty well!  And I'm not real "Stars and Stripes" crazy or into a lot of patriotic flag wear for the July 4th holiday, so this type of look is a little more appealing to me.  And then I finished it out with my favorite Stella and Dot bag, because of there was ever a great bag for an Americana themed outfit, this bag would be it!

We keep things pretty low key for the 4th of July, especially when it falls on a weekend like this.  I don't even get a day off sadly, though I may end up taking a half day on Friday.  On the actual holiday I think we'll go disc golf in the morning like we would any other weekend and then after Oliver's nap in the afternoon we'll be going to my parents for a picnic.  I'm doubting Ollie will make it to fireworks again this year, but you never know.

Shirt - Old Navy (From friend), Dress - Unknown (Thrifted)
Sandals - Target, Bag - Stella and Dot (ThredUp)

And while this outfit is definitely fun and festive, I'm pretty sure on the actual 4th of July I'll be kicking back in denim shorts and a white top or something!  What will you do to celebrate the 4th of July?  And will you be wearing red white and blue?  Don't forget to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday gals at their blogs below and be sure to visit new member Alison's blog too!

Thrift Style Thursday - Pretty in Pink

When Carissa from Carissa Knits suggested pink tones for this week's Thrift Style Thursday, I immediately thought of this skirt.  It's one of my favorite thrifted items of the last year, it's comfy and fun and I just knew I'd be wearing it today!

I'm pretty much a girly girl, I will fully admit to enjoying pink.  I am probably a bigger fan of darker pinks and even more salmon and peach, but I do like pink.  I have talked here before about how I resisted pink for awhile, I chose a very pink room for myself when I was young and after living with that for so long I shied away from pink for quite awhile in my early 20's - but I have embraced it again, which is a good thing considering I have a VERY pink bathroom in my house!

Shirt - Old Navy (thrifted), Skirt - LOFT (thrifted)
Sandals - Target, Bag - Urban Expressions (Stitch Fix)

People were kind of teasing me when we first learned that Oliver was a boy - "you're such a girl, how will you ever raise a boy?" But honestly, I don't mind.  I'm a pretty good boy mom and even if I had a daughter, I don't know that I'd be forcing pink and flowers and butterflies on her.  And hey, one of Oliver's favorite characters in the world is a pink fairy named Abby, so I'm not totally missing out on that experience anyway!
