Simply Sunday

Nothing extraordinarily special about today's outfit but I felt like photographing and sharing it anyway!  I wore this out to a friend's art show today and then later for dinner at my in-law's.  The shirt is super warm and comfy!

A chance to show off my new haircut some more also doesn't hurt!  I am loving it on day three, it's so easy to deal with right now and I'm all about simplicity!

I attempted layering necklaces today too as I have seen that as a trend lately.  I'm not 100% sold on this pairing, but I at least gave it a try!

Hope you are all having fantastic weekends and remembered to "fall back" today for the end of Daylights Saving's time!

Rundown:
Shirt - Damsel thrifted from Clothes Mentor
Cami - Old Navy
Jeans - Maurices
Necklaces - American Eagle and gift from my in-laws

Taking chances

I want to get as much mileage out of this dress as I can this fall, because I feel the colors are perfect fall colors and I will probably be less likely to wear this into the winter months.  So, I tried a new way of styling it today.  I think the results are ok, but hey, we just never know sometimes until we take chances on something if it will work or not!

I love, love, LOVE my shoes.  I believe they came from DSW back in the day, but I honestly don't remember.  My mom found them for me and I actually didn't wear them much for a couple of years, in fact, I didn't really decide I liked wearing them that much until last year.  I have kind of embraced the fact that I'm short and therefore am much more willing to wear flats than I used to be.

Anyway, I'm still not sure I 100% love this outfit, but I'm glad I took the risk and tried it!  I may try and style this dress some other ways yet too!

Bright orange pumpkin

Happy Halloween!  We don't really do the costume thing in my office, so I instead chose Halloween type colors for today.  I could have gone all black, but instead decided to go with a harvest/pumpkin type feel, so everything was centered around my nice bright orange shirt.

I hope you all had a fun weekend celebrating Halloween and that if you are celebrating tonight, you have a fun and safe time!  We're having drinks with friends but keeping it pretty low key I think.  And then on to November already - where does the time go?

Glittery rain

The last time I wore this shirt it shed so much glitter everywhere I went - the bathroom rug, my office chair, my car...

Today it doesn't seem quite so bad.  I have been avoiding wearing it again, but I thought, I want something a little sparkly today and if I rain glitter, I rain glitter!

Prep school cool

And it's another Monday.  Boo.  It was a good weekend and I wish it wasn't over!  We had a fun celebration with friends for Oktoberfest.  It was a great time and gave our friends a chance to sample all of our latest homebrew beer!  Over too quickly though and here we are back to Monday again.

It's chilly outside today, so I was able to pull out this blazer I got a couple of weeks ago at Forever 21. I honestly bought it and then the heatwave started.  That is just always how it works I guess.  Anyway, I'm glad to finally wear it.  It's almost like jersey material/sweatshirt material and it's super comfy and warm, but still dressy looking and work appropriate.  You gotta love that!  And I like the "preppy" look, always have.

And it was still kind of dark outside this morning when I was doing pictures, so I chose to do them indoors again, and once again, less than happy with the results.  We'll keep playing around with it!

The rundown:
Blazer - Forever 21
T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - Style and Co. from Macy's (past season)
Necklace - jerseymaids via Etsy
Shoes - Sonoma from Kohls (past season)

Ooh la Orange

Whew, if this outfit doesn't scream "Autumn" I don't know what else would!  Quite a vibrant orange shirt today.  I love this shirt, I picked it up at a boutique in Northern MN so I feel like it's kind of unique. I was lucky to get outside and get these photos taken this morning - it's supposed to rain today, so I'm glad I had the chance this morning!  We really need rain though, we're kind of in a drought.

Other than that I'm just super happy to be halfway through the week.  We have an annual big Oktoberfest party this weekend at our house featuring the Pants Monkey's homebrew, so we're gearing up for that.  Getting pretty excited!

Today's rundown:
Shirt - boutique in Pequot Lakes, MN
Pants - Nine West (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)

You know it's Monday when...

...your pictures don't turn out the way you'd hoped and you don't have any time to really fix the situation.  We did some major rearranging at home this weekend and some of my lighting has changed in some rooms so indoor pictures might be more experiemental again.  I'll have to take advantage of outside more, at least while it's still light enough to do so.

So this sweater is brand spanking new and I love it.  Thanks Tar-jay boutique! (Target).  I really wanted a sweater in this color to replace one I had for years and years that I finally just sent down the line.  The price was right on this bad boy - $19.99.  Can you beat that?

It's still a bit warmish out for October, but I hear that is all finally changing later this week.  I'm glad because I have an adorable new blazer from Forever 21 that I bought over a week ago and haven't been able to wear yet!  Happy Monday, try and make it a great day!

Three F's

Today's outfit is brought to you by the letter "F" for "Fall" "Friday" and "Fad".  My last post for FBFF goes into detail about some of my thoughts on fads, and today, I'm wearing one of the "fads" I had previous resisted, the maxi skirt.  Also, it is a beautiful morning outside and my yard is totally dressed in pretty leaves (I'm one of those weird ones who likes my yard covered in leaves) so I took it outside today!  Much better results than my last attempts from outside.

They say it may be our last 80 degree day this year, so while it's casual Friday, I had to pull out this skirt and my favorite sandal purchase of the year for one last hurrah.  I have enjoyed this warm weather while it lasted, but I'm looking forward to the return to cooler weather or here in MN "normal weather."  I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

The heat goes on

Man alive it is so hard to decide how to dress for these warm fall days!  I clearly re-arranged my closet a little too soon this year!  Oh well, doing the best that I can.  I do absolutely adore these pants, they are my new favorite thing ever.  So comfy, so versatile!

Sounds like a little cooler weather is coming back next week so hopefully I'll be able to be back into sweaters or at the very least longer sleeves soon!

Pete and Repeat were sitting in a boat...

I knew this dress would be a frequent flier when I bought it last month.  It's just so comfy and it's perfect for another rather warm day.  It will be in the upper 80's here which is just crazy for early October!!  I'll take it though.  I know it will be all too soon that the snow is here.

Fortunately this dress has a bunch of different colors so it can really be made different by simply adding various sweaters or shrugs.  I am even contemplating throwing a long sleeve t-shirt under it this winter and making it more of a "jumper" so to speak.  We'll see how it goes.  I just adore it right now!

I also had to show of my sunnies that I got when I was up north last month. I haven't shared them here yet and I really like them a lot!

Hope the rest of you are enjoying some Indian Summer!

Happy Autumn!!

Today is the official Autumnal Equinox!  So happy Autumn one and all!  It really is my very favorite time of year!  I didn't choose very Autumn/Fall like colors today though.  Oh well!

And it's Friday!  So it's also Casual Friday - yippee!  I'm missing out on FBFF again this week - they are talking about clothing items you have "Re-fashioned" in some way.  I do have a couple of options for that - though one item is a pair of jeans I did some fun stuff to last year and sadly they aren't fitting so well these days.  I don't mind though, I still feel comfortable in my own skin and I have plenty of clothes that DO fit well and look nice! The other option is some jeans I've turned into capri pants and well, it's chilly outside today! Anyway, my plan is to get back to FBFF next week!

In the meantime, have a great weekend!

Gray shirt - Mossimo from Target (last year)
Jacket - White House, Black Market (thrifted from Clothes Mentor)
