FBFF - Fads

I'm happy to be participating in FBFF again this week!  Today's topic is inspired by Fads, especially in light of the Missoni madness at Target, hosted by Katy at Modly Chic.  Here are my thoughts on her questions this week!

1. Do you ever see a fad hit the stores and immediately dislike it? Yes definitely - I still dislike the "skinny jean" or the "jegging".  I think it's a look that can work on a small percentage of people, but it is just not for me.  But I also have disliked other fads at first that I have ended up liking in the end too.
Has that fad ever began to grow on you? Not the jeggings, but I didn't like the "maxi" look at first either and found out later that some maxi dresses or skirts actually look ok on me, so that's a fad that has grown on me for sure.
2. Has the popularity of a certain piece of clothing or line ever
convinced you to try on something (or purchase something) you
dislike? I don't think so, I buy what is comfortable and looks good on me, I guess I don't worry so much about being popular.
3. Have you ever changed your mind about a trend after seeing it
around for a while? Yep, again with the maxi look, especially as it's been around for a couple of seasons now, I feel that I was able to wrap my head around it a bit more.
4. Do you feel a certain pressure to have specific items in your
closet because 'everyone' else does? I used to - a bunch of my college friends and a couple from high school are huge, HUGE, Coach girls.  And I felt like I had to be one too.  I have never paid full price for a Coach item, but I have bought a couple of Coach purses to try to "fit in" with them.  Lately I've been really thinking about it and have decided it just doesn't matter that much to me, I have plenty of other cute purses too that I enjoy carrying just as much if not more than my Coach purses and it really doesn't matter if they are from Charming Charlie or a high end boutique.  I have even sold off a couple of my Coach purses that I just didn't like that much anymore.
5. Be honest, what do you think of the Missoni line? Did you grab any
items? Is it worth the eBay prices?  I will be honest, Missoni is not for me.  I am a huge pattern freak, but the zig zag pattern just isn't hitting it with me.  I'm not crazy about the color combos and it just wasn't a big deal to me.  I did not go shopping for any of the items and I do not think they are worth the crazy prices on eBay.

In short, I guess I try to go with some trends, but again, I focus more on being comfortable in my own skin, so that is what is most important to me when I go shopping for clothes!

  2. haha everyone either mentioned leggings or skinny jeans. I totally understand hating them initially but you can find a pair that works!

  3. I felt the same way about maxi dresses, but once I actually tried them on, I really love the look!
