Not quite so perfect

After a near perfect outfit on Monday and a pretty darn good one yesterday, I'm not really digging today's outfit.  Shock!  I am still sharing it though, because you know what?  I'm honest and I admit when I'm not perfect.  And it's not that I hate this outfit, I just don't feel like it's one of my better choices.

I think it's mostly this shirt - it's very pink and very girly and I think that maybe it's time to move it along.  It's not even the pinky-ness of this shirt that makes me dislike it, it's the cut of it.  It's kind of boxy feeling.  Yep, I think we are breaking up after today Pink Shirt.  It's been fun, but we're through.  I do love my skirt and sandals though!  They are comfy and I still think I have a lot of other potential for this skirt.

I forgot yesterday to tell you about the Instagram challenge I'm participating in.  Katy from Modly Chic and Fashion Beauty Friend Friday posed a "Photo a Day" challenge for May relating to fashion and beauty.  It's fun, each day has a word and it's up to us to take an Instagram photo based on that word and post it.  So yesterday was "mirror".  Today was "Accessory"  - I posted this photo:

So that's kind of the idea anyway.  It will be a fun challenge and hopefully help me find creative ways to use Instagram.  My handle is @muppetmusic22 if you want to follow along.

Outfit rundown:
Shirt - Como thrifted from Clothes Mentor
Skirt - Briggs New York (from cousin)
Sandals - Duck Head (from mom)
Necklace and Bracelet - Butterfly Boutique

  1. I think with a fuller bottom you need a more fitted top. Particularly with the length of the skirt, something that accentuates the waist would work better.

    Great sandals!

  2. Oh, I love that pretty bracelet! Good job knowing when to say goodbye to a well loved clothing item :) Bye bye too-pink top *wave*

  3. I think if you tucked the top in, it will look more fitted and change the look of the outfit. :)

    1. I might try that, though it's rather short, almost cropped, so it might not work. Great suggestion!

  4. Hi Beth! I think that shirt would be great over cropped white trousers and wear the skirt with a fitted top instead! Have a good day:)

  5. I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes you look at photos of an outfit and it just wasn't what you thought it was! I think the shirt could work belted or maybe under a vest. Or even worn over a sundress and knot it... But if those don't work, then toss it! There's no point in hanging on to something that just doesn't work, right? I recently went through my closet and got rid of a whole bunch of stuff!

    1. Since I have a cami on I just tried knotting it - it looks much better! I'm still probably not keeping it, but it works for the rest of today, thanks for the suggestion!!

  6. I love honesty on fashion blogs. I find that after posting up outfit photos, I can see why something worked or didn't work for me. It works well since I don't own a full-length mirror.

    1. I couldn't agree more! I do like the way you re-styled it though, it looked pretty good tied Miss Beth!

  7. I like pink shirts though! There's something great about them! You look shocked in that second photo!

  8. i agree that if you tuck it in, and wear the skirt like a high-waisted skirt, with a big chunky belt, then the shirt would look more fitted, and it would show off your nice curves. the color is nice!

  9. I like the skirt, and I agree with the others that the shirt might work well tucked in.

  10. I understand what you mean about the shirt. It isn't bad; it just isn't good. The boxy shape looks clunky and uninteresting. We can't be perfect every day!

  11. Part of what I love about blogging is that it gives you the chance to take a closer look at the way an outfit was put together and to see what things you just don't feel like are working for you! Besides, if it leaves your closet, there's a space for a new addition that you'll love! :)

  12. Clothes should work with your body, not against it - if it's too boxy, let it move on... and make room for better items!

  13. I actually love that! It's not perfect but you'd show us anyway and why not? It cannot be perfect everyday, otherwise where's the fun? We can no longer say, I am having a bad hair day or bad dress day! =)

  14. I agree with many of the comments and your feelings. I think overall the shirt doesn't show *you* It's not cut for your body. And it's fine, it's just a shirt - send it to donation! I think the skirt will look great with a more fitted top that shows off your waist.

Sometimes there's hits and sometimes misses. I like blogs that say hey this is life, it happens.

  15. You're right. If you don't LOVE it, it might be time to say goodbye. Like Jess said, it'll leave a little more room for something that you'll like more!
