Perfectly Pink

I can't get enough of this pink sweater from Maurices.  Bought just over a month ago and it's already a frequent flyer, I've worn it three times I think.  I have had a lot of fun finding different ways to style it.  I took a leap of faith today - I don't usually mix browns and blacks, but I decided today is the day!  While it's not a huge mix, the little buckles on the sweater are brown and my pants are black and pink striped.  Gasp!  Hey, it's baby steps sometimes right?

I really tried to make the pink the main highlight of this outfit.  Right down to my pink socks.  In fact, I took the picture below here just so you could see my pink socks.

When I was young, my parents remodeled our house and put a second story on where they put nicer bedrooms for us.  And when the remodeling was complete, they let me choose how I wanted to decorate my room.  I was around 9 years old or so.  And I chose pink.  Oh did I ever choose pink.  I was such a girly girl back then.  By the time I was into my teens I regretted that decision for a bit and ended up resisting pink for a very long time in my adulthood, but I'm back to a place where I can embrace it again.

My house has a very old fashioned pink tiled bathroom.  Have you ever seen the website "Save the Pink Bathrooms"?  My bathroom should be on that site.  The Pants Monkey does not like our pink bathroom that much, and at first I didn't either, but I'm growing to love it as I am developing a love for all things vintage - my bathroom is retro and awesome!  Pink is good!

Outfit rundown:
T-shirt - Grane, Herbergers
Sweater and necklace - Maurices
Pants - Ann Taylor, thrifted via Clothes Mentor
Shoes - SO, Kohls
Socks - unknown

  2. I'm loving your sweater doll! I have trouble breakin away from the "rules" sometimes too having been raised in the "no mixing" era (ie black w/ brown or silver w/gold) Such a rebel - you go girl!! AND - I have a pink bathroom. I put a tension rod inside the tub and use it as a closet since we never used it - it's a guest bathroom. I'll have to submit a pic!!

    1. Thanks! I'm having trouble with the gold/silver thing at times too, but also trying to mix those metals a bit more!

  3. Pink is without a doubt the best color out there! I absolutely adore your sweater. The buckles are so cute! And oh my gosh, they have a whole website dedicated to hideous pink bathrooms? That's freakin' awesome.

  4. Omg I LOVE your pink sweater. That is so cute. I love the retro pink bathrooms. My great grandmother had one. Her house was so beautiful and full of antiques. I love pink, I just don't wear it much because of my coloring. I have found ways to sneak it in though.

  5. My friend had one of those pink bathrooms buy recently remodeled it. My house has a few ugly layers of paint under the current stuff, but no pink that I've seen.

  6. That sweater looks SO warm and cozy! Love it. I'm not sure where I stand with pink these days. I used to really like it, but now I'm totally into neutrals. My bedroom is pink right now (more of a maroon, actually) and has been for 5 years. I've been meaning to change it but can't find the time!

  7. I noticed your new blog banner, I like it, it's really cute. And I like your pink inspiration. The texture and color is a nice contrast with the pin striped pants!

  8. I love your layered pink sweater and top.
It's so funny because so many of us are just sticking our toes into the water as far as trying out new trends goes...but it's like we're all holding hands doing it together so it makes easier.
And I seriously need you to give me posing lessions. I love the one where you're showing off your cool pink socks. :)

  9. Such a pretty color for you. And that sweater fits so well. Very cute! My bathroom was pink when we moved in. It's from the late 50s era. We painted and got a new floor, but the sink and tub are still pink. I'll work around it.:) but I do love pink!
