Tie in a knot, tie it in a bow

Well hello there Friday!  Welcome back to my world.  I love how reliable you are and so appreciate you returning to me each and every week.

I'm silly, I know.  I'm glad it's Friday though.  It's a rare Friday with nothing going on, so Mr. Monkey and I will probably have a date night tonight.  Usually we make Saturdays our date nights, but that isn't going to work out this weekend anyway as we have a birthday party for a friend, so I'm really glad tonight ended up free!  We try to do weekly date nights as much as we can, I always offer up as advice to newlyweds - make sure you keep "dating" each other - it keeps your relationship fun and alive!

This shirt was a steal for me, it was on a clearance rack at the Mighty Swell Vintage sale last weekend for only $2.  I feel like even if I only wore it once it would be justified!  The good news is I'm pretty sure I have other things to wear it with and the cute little bow tie is kind of on trend right now.

I tried something different with the picture below here, I made a little collage style picture so you can see the detail of the shirt.  Being so light colored it's very difficult to get a good picture unless I did one up close!

I love that the fabric in this shirt is super lightweight too.  I could also see myself wearing this shirt under a lightweight blazer or something too though.  It'll be fun to play with at any rate!

The weekend is kind of full as I said.  Not only do we have a birthday party tomorrow night but I'm also singing for a wedding - first time in a few years I've gotten hired to do so and I'm so excited about it!  It's such a nice way to make a little extra money!  Sunday there's a pretty awesome event going on close to my house called No Coast Summer Craft-o-rama.  My very good friend Jes will have a booth there and so will the fabulous Erin of Babes in Thriftland.  If you're local and you love homemade/craft goodies you should definitely check it out.  Not to mention the park where it's being held is is a lovely treasure in the middle of our city and I love that it's within walking distance of our house.  After that we're heading to another birthday party, a pretty special one, we have friends who have a baby girl that came into the world super early last year and she has just turned 1, so they're having a big bash to celebrate.  It'll be a crazy weekend but I'm looking forward to it!  I am most excited about my date with my hubby though, I won't lie about that! Have a great weekend everyone!

  7. Cute top! Singing sounds like a lot of fun! I'd be so nervous!

We have a 3-year-old's birthday to go to...aieee...

I totally agree re: date nights. We've been married 15 years and we always make the time to have a night to ourselves.

  11. Incredible score on that top! I love the tie-neckline. You're definitely right about keeping a date night. Hubs and I don't do it as often as we like, so we started setting aside time to spend together every night. Otherwise, we'd both probably stay busy all day long.

Sounds so exciting to get to sing at a wedding. I agree with Sheila, I'd be crazy nervous! Goodluck and congrats on the job.

  12. I hope you have a fun date night! I agree that those kind of evenings are important. I have a co-worker that absolutely swears by them, even after 10 years of marriage and I think that's so wonderful!

Apparently I'm not only loving rolled jeans lately, but also shirts that tie. They haven't shown up on my blog yet, but I've bought two tops in the past week that tie like yours does. I think you should definitely try tying it into a bow sometime too! :)

  13. Wow you have a busy busy weekend ahead of you and how amazing that you're going to be the wedding singer, what a wonderful talent I just found out about you! Love the print on this blouse and my man make it a habit to have at least 1-2 nights a week to re-connect, we did a vegan BBQ cooking class last night!

  14. Hi, girl! Love that top. Oh the possibilities - it looks like it will be fun to style in so many different ways! :) Hope you have a fabulous weekend. And good luck singing! I sang for my baby brother's wedding, while I was pregnant. I found out the hard way - not a good idea. I was so emotional between my baby brother getting married and the pregnancy hormones that it made singing extremely difficult! ;) I managed it though. ;)

  15. What will you be singing? You must have a gorgeous voice, lucky lady!

You know I'm a full for a bow-tie blouse. I thrifted two vintage ones this summer (have only worn one on the blog so far), but I plan to to wear them over and over and over. Your blouse has so many re-mixing options that I hope you'll really enjoy it. If not, let me give you my address...lol.
