Thrift Style Thursday - Off Book

Well, it's Thrift Style Thursday and the theme this week is super fun - Beach Wear - but I'm going off book for a couple of reasons - I really don't have any thrifted beach wear and also, I'm not really going to the beach anytime soon!  Instead I went more for a "this is what I'd wear to a picnic by the water" kind of look today.  And oh hello, office selfies.  We haven't done this in awhile!  Best laid plans on getting pictures elsewhere, so I figured I'd cuddle up to my friend the Shred Bin for the first time in a while.  Keeping it real folks!

I was inspired by Robin from Frannie Pantz to wear my denim vest with a sundress.  I haven't done this look in awhile and yes, it does feel a little more 1995 than 2005, but maybe we'll say I'm doing Throwback Thursday for Thrift Style Thursday?

Dress - Old Navy (thrifted), Vest - Vintage Lee (Mighty Swell Vintage)
Bag - Merona (Target), Scarf - Target, Sandals - Marshalls

Whatever vibe I'm channeling here I liked the look, it's comfy and fresh for summer.  And I'll just dream of being at the beach instead of the office!

Thrift Style Thursday - Time Warp

Let's do the time warp again!  This week's Thrift Style Thursday post was chosen by yours truly!  I chose Time Warp - and encouraged everyone to dress like any of their favorite decades - even if it's the one we're currently in!  I chose to do a 60's inspired look, I love everything about the sixties. I'd usually choose to do a bit of a hippie/flower child vibe if I was going for a 60's inspired look, but this time I went kind of Mad Men-esque instead so I could make it more "work appropriate."  For my look I chose my favorite shift style dress that I bought at one of the two birds pop up shops (and that was the first time I met the fabulous Megan and Nora too!) and I modernized it slightly - but I think it still has a vintage vibe overall! (This dress was also what I wore for my feature in TC Style Magazine this past fall.)

Dress - two birds vintage pop up, Sweater - Old Navy
Scarf - Secret Santa swap, Boots - Target, Belt - JCPenney
Tights - Old Navy

I was trying to go for the dramatic in the above pose, ha.  I don't think I can pull that off real well! Since I was being inspired by Mad Men, I chose to take some pictures in my dad's office at my parents house the other morning before work.  I thought it worked out pretty well, but I did attempt one outdoor photo too.  We're getting closer to spring, it's at least lighter in the mornings outside!

I've really missed this dress, it's one of my favorite items I own,and I'd pushed it to the back of the closet while pregnant and nursing so much because it didn't work well for those things.  We pretty much have Ollie down to only nursing at bedtime now, so I can wear anything I want during the day now!  I'm looking forward to getting back to playing with ways to style this dress again, it's pretty darn versatile!

Don't forget to check out how the other Thrift Style Thursday gals traveled back in time today!  What decade of fashion is your favorite?

Unofficial Thrift Style Thursday

Well I'm just a creature of habit.  Even though we're taking Thrift Style Thursday off this month as a group, I still wanted to share a thrifty outfit because A. it's cute and B. as I said, it's kind of habit at this point!

Truth be told this outfit isn't super thrifted - the skirt is actually a sweater dress that I got from Tandem Vintage - though I got a great deal because owner Amanda is a friend and a total sweetheart, but sometimes just because something is vintage doesn't mean it's going to be cheap!  I got lucky on this one!  I thought it would make a great skirt if I pull a sweater over it, and I really like the look, it really modernizes it quite a bit!

Sweater - St. John's Bay (JCPenney), Dress as Skirt - Tandem Vintage (formerly Salvaged Strawberry), Tights and boots - Old Navy, Necklace - Stella and Dot, Bag - Merona (Target)

I'm dressed for kicking butt and taking names today - I had tried to go to the post office late in the day yesterday to get some blog Secret Santa packages mailed out and the line was out the door.  I should have known better honestly, but I was still a little surprised.  We moved two inches in 10 minutes and I had to go get Ollie, so I just said fine, I'll get there right when they open in the morning and just duck out of work for a few minutes.  So I did just that and I was the second person in line.  In, out, done.  Boom.  Sorry to my Secret Santa giftees that your gifts are coming one day later, but they're on their way now!  And that's pretty much my only story today!

Thrift Style Thursday - Pinspired

It's no secret to my blog readers that I love Pinterest and I love using it for outfit inspiration.  So, when the Thrift Style Thursday group chose "Inspired by Pinterest" for the theme this week I knew I'd have no trouble with it at all.  I have SO many ideas to choose from it was actually tough to narrow down!  I settled on this one because it allowed me to wear my new sweater from Target - no it's not thrifted, but there are other thrifted items in my look.

Photos were a challenge this morning unfortunately, it was dark and rainy outside and then Oliver was kind enough to share his cold with mama, so I was low on drive to make these better, but hopefully you get the idea!

Sweater - Mossimo (Target), Dress - Swap
Tights and boots - Target, Bag -  Vintage Coach (b. resale)
Barrette - Gift

I used to be so afraid to mix black and brown elements together but I'm getting more and more willing to do it.  I love this little black and white striped dress I managed to snag at a clothing swap when I was still pregnant (and actually wore at least once over the belly!) and I really love the brown pieces I added and the mustard sweater.  It makes for a nice cozy fall look!  I'm also pretty jazzed about this bag that I found while shopping with my blog buddies at b. resale in Minneapolis last night - I'm a sucker for vintage Coach and I've been looking for this brown leather style for awhile now!  They price their items very reasonably so I had no qualms about bringing this guy home with me.  I also found the most adorable black booties (thanks to Megan Bird for pointing them out to me!) and some fun pairs of pants.  Retail therapy rules.  Maybe not the most practical thing ever, but hey, it still made me feel good!

Overall I really love my outfit today.  I have some other pinned ideas for this mustard sweater too, so I'm guessing it might be in heavy rotation for awhile!
