Friday Five - Summer Wish List

So, I might be considering a shopping ban for summer, but I haven't decided when/if I'll start it and not to mention, it's fun to make a summer wish list, so today's Friday Five features five items currently on my radar for summer!

I don't know why, but a blue gingham shirt is calling my name.  I've been trying to not collect as many purses and handbags, but something fun like this Stella and Dot green tote would be a fun addition to my closet.  I have so much red/peach/coral, something in green would be a fun change!  A new necklace would also be fun, one of my favorite pink floral necklaces broke (thanks to a young boy named Ollie) so this pretty one would be a good replacement!  I am still on the fence on the palazzo pants, I've tried some on a couple of times now and I might be ready to bite the bullet and go for it on these fun ones from Target.  And finally, I had a black lace skirt last summer that I loved, but it was just a bit too short and the zipper broke, so I'd like to replace it with one that is just a hair longer so I can feel a little more comfortable wearing it to work.

So, there you have it!  I'm not sure if I'll actually add any of these items to my closet or not, but if I find a good deal you just never know.  I figure my actual "no shop" summer will start after my vacation, so I have time to add these things yet.  Memorial Day sales maybe?? Cabin essentials

Because we'll be heading up north for the weekend, I thought it would be fun to share a few items that I consider necessities for a weekend at a cabin in Northern Minnesota in the summertime!  A hoodie, t-shirt and shorts, crossbody bag and moccasins make for the perfect cozy and chic look.  And don't forget the sunscreen and bug spray!!  See you all on Monday!

ModCloth Uniquely Yours Challenge

ModCloth approached me to do one of their weekly Uniquely Yours style challenges and I jumped at the opportunity!  The challenge was to style their Coach Tour Dress in Navy Stripes with items that can be found in their online shop on Polyvore.  Here is what I came up with!

It was super fun to style this dress - I went for a classic, nautical feeling look that I thought would be fun for a dressier 4th of July event.  This would be a fun look for a wedding around the 4th of July or even a boat ride to watch fireworks!  Red accents are so fun to pair with navy and white!  Also - how adorable is this bag with the polka dots and bow?  I figured a little subtle pattern mixing of stripes and polka dots can be a ton of fun, so I also chose the red polka dot headband too, which also helps give this a fun retro feel!  Overall I think this would be a great summer outfit for anything, but I definitely had the 4th of July in mind when I styled it!  What do you think?  Did I do a good job?  Would you wear this look?  You can find this dress and many others (that are all too cute) over at ModCloth!

Spring wishes

It's rainy and sad again here in Minnesota and it has me dreaming of a warm, sunny vacation.  In about a month we'll be taking Oliver on his first trip to St. Louis, Missouri to visit the Pants Monkey's Grandma.  I sought out some inspiration from Polyvore for a few items that might be nice for traveling.  A fun yellow cardi, some cute and comfy sandals, boyfriend jeans and an adorable, yet practical tote bag would be nice to have!

I see this as being a comfy outfit for sight seeing or even for sitting in the car for long stretches - it's a 12 hour trip to St. Louis from Minneapolis - might even be longer with Oliver on board, it will be interesting, that's for sure!

What would your travel/getaway outfit necessities be?  And any mamas out there who would like to share their road trip tips for me?  He'll be around six months old by the time we go.

Spring Wish List 2013

I am so excited you guys, I figured out how to post from Polyvore to my blog!  I realize this is a nerdy thing to be excited about, but I can't help it.  Anyway, since I'm off playing today on my "spring break" I thought I'd share my spring wish list!

I'd love a lightweight polka dot sweater, a fitted white blouse, a bubble necklace in a light shade, some chunky brown sandals, mint jeans and a black or gray and white jersey knit skirt.  It's not a huge list but I think it's do-able.  I'm not necessarily after the specific items above either, but they're good examples anyway!  My goal is to not stray too far from these items.  I may also pick up a cheap sundress or two because they're my summer staple and it is fun to have new ones, but otherwise, these items are the goal and what I will be searching for now that I'm more or less off my shopping ban.
