Thrift Style Thursday - Sweater Weather

It's Thrift Style Thursday and guess what?  This week's theme was chosen by yours truly!  I went with Sweater Weather as the theme for today because, well, I'm from Minnesota and it's winter and it's cold.  When you live here you can justify having a closet full of cozy sweaters!  I certainly have a fair share of them, but I'm sharing only two of them with you today.  It was tough to narrow down, believe me!

This first one I am unsure of the brand on, there is no tag, but I love the color - it's a nice neutral oatmeal color, but what the pictures aren't showing super well is that it's flecked with little bits of color.  I don't remember when I got this sweater, but I know that it's cozy and I love it!

Sweater - unknown (thrifted), Pants - Old Navy
Blouse - Gap (thrifted on Instagram), Boots - from friend
Necklace - Stella and Dot

This next sweater is a more recent thrifted find.  I was drawn to the color, I liked the mauve shade.  It also has some sparkles flecked in the threads too!  And it's fuzzy and warm.  That's pretty much a requirement!

Sweater - Mossimo (thrifted), T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - Thrifted, Boots and scarf - Target

One reason I love thrifting sweaters is, you know that they're pretty much going to have already been washed and worn before, so there's no breaking them in so to speak.  They aren't likely to shrink on you.  They won't be as stiff and itchy as they possibly could be new.  And again, I live somewhere that has winter practically nine months out of the year - that means I need a lot of variety of sweaters and I sure as heck don't want to break the bank buying them!  So, thrifting for the win!

Check out the other Thrift Style Thursday gals and see what kinds of sweaters they pull out at this time of year!  We're also welcoming a couple of new gals this week - so make sure you check them out too - pictures below are clickable!

Thanksgiving week...or Easter??

This is such an odd week.  Not only is the schedule all goofy for work and what not, but the weather outside is just not right for this time of the year.  I'm not complaining, but it's very strange that I may not even need a jacket when I go to Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday!

This morning it was a little cooler out, so I decided to wear pants instead of a skirt today.  And this is a combo I meant to try out last winter and never did, so today was a good excuse to do so.

Floral shirt - Decree, JCPenney
T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - Squeeze (handed down from Megan Bird)
Necklace - Bead for Life
Shoes - Mudd

Hopefully it doesn't make me look too much like an Easter egg!  With this weather I guess I could just use that as my excuse - you mean it's not the week before Easter?  It's warm enough!

I think the warm weather will be a good thing on Thanksgiving day though - I can go for a walk after dinner to walk off all the food!!  I think it will be much needed, our family has a private Facebook group and I saw the menu of what all will be at our dinner and holy cow, no one is going hungry!!

Time warp

Any Rocky Horror fans in the house?  "Let's do the time warp again!"  Seriously - it's March, but it sure doesn't feel like March!  You have to forgive me, I'm from Minnesota and talking about the weather is just what we do - I'm not complaining, but I am scratching my head.  75 F high today.  80 F high tomorrow?  On St. Patrick's Day?  It makes me wonder what we're in for this summer....not going to dwell too much though and just try to enjoy it while it lasts!

If you're newer to my blog then you aren't aware of the story that I have a cousin who is about the same size as me and is also a high powered executive at a pretty major corporation here in the Twin Cities, which means she buys NICE clothes. What does that have to do with me? Well, last fall, she sent a bag of "hand me downs" my way figuring I could probably use them for work. Isn't that nice of her? The top I have on today is one of the goodies I received.  My mom was talking to my aunt this week and my aunt said my cousin is getting ready to go through her closets again - so I should be expecting another bag of fun soon!  I say you are never too old for hand me downs!

I also don't think I've ever worn these jeans on the blog before, so I had to give you a booty shot because the pockets are fun!  I like it when jeans have a little something something on the back without being gaudy.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - if you are heading out to celebrate St. Patty's Day, have fun and be safe!  We'll be potlucking and rehearsing with our music group, nothing too exciting!  Coming up next week on the blog - Super Stripes Week with Megan Mae and Keely!

Outfit rundown:
Shirt - Donna handed down from cousin
Jeans - Old Navy (thrifted)
Shoes - thrifted via Clothes Mentor
Necklace - Maurices
Bracelet - Bead for Life

Sweater love

Hola friends!  Just like that we're halfway through the week already!  Not half bad, I thought the week would drag after last week being so short!

Thank to all who left such sweet comments on my post yesterday - I guess my pictures weren't as bad as I thought! We're our own worst critics sometimes aren't we?

So today I felt like a cozy sweater again. So I chose this very simple green one.  I'm getting all my colors out of my system this week because next week I'm doing Megan Mae and Keely's Fashion Challenge - Neutrals!  So this week, I am trying to wear colorful things and saving my less colorful things for next week!

This is a sweater I've had in my closet awhile, but it is still in great shape and fits well.  And I love how it matches my green striped pants.

And hey, with the Christmas wreath in the background of my office here, doesn't it just put you in the Christmas spirit?  The countdown is on!

Rundown:
Sweater - Karen Scott, Macy's
Pants - Alfani, Macy's
Shoes - Mudd, Kohls
Jewelry - Butterfly Boutique
