August Valentine

Today's outfit was totally planned so I could wear the only pair of earrings from my jewelry swap with CC that I haven't had the chance to wear yet.  They're red/pink and I used them as my muse for this look.  I never used to think of pink and red together until EBEW did pink and red for Valentine's Day this year and then I realized that these colors work well together.

The polka dots in this dress may have been white originally, but they don't look it anymore.  They actually look like a pale pink, so I realized this shrug I haven't work at all this year actually compliments it pretty nicely!

I also had to show you guys, I'm still in love with my Jenna Lou bag.  This is rare for me to have carried the same bag for over a week now and still not be tired of it!  Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf!!

And that's my story today.  I'm linking up with Callie from Coffee and Cardigans today for her Thrifter Thursday, as everything besides my accessories and sandals were thrifted.  Also, I could still use a couple of more guest posts for the week of August 13-17.  Let me know if you're willing to write a summery guest post!

Outfit rundown:
Dress - unknown brand, thrifted
Shrug - Xhilaration, Target, thrifted
Sandals - Merona, Target
Earrings - swap with CC
Bracelet - Bead for Life
Necklace - Maurices
Bag - Jenna Lou Designs

  1. More polka dots...oh yeah! I don't know what it is about polka dots, but they sure make me happy :) This is another great outfit. I love the pink and red together. Way to make the most of the white, turned pink polka dots!

  5. Thrifting magic in this post girl! I carry the same bag until it is too full of crap and then I move on to the next one. Haha!

  8. Ohwow! Love this combo. That dress definitely begs to be worn more often. Bright colors look really great on you.

Also confession time - I've been on the hunt for a new bag forever. I've found a dozen and a half cute bags that don't work for me, but I've really been looking hard at Jenna Lou's Madeline in Silver Piggy print, but I'm not sure if it's an everyday bag. I know you typically prefer more feminine designs, but I was wondering if you knew of any more US-based bag designers or had any opinions about wearing a print bag everyday.

  14. Very nice outfit. And I've been looking for a shrug just like this one, but they're hard to find in giant size.

  16. Love your pink and red look! ;) I remember wearing a pale pink blouse with a long red skirt way back in college (late 90's) and getting some very strange looks. But I loved it anyway! ;)
