Back to the grind

Well, my extended holiday break has come to an end today.  And lucky me, I'm coming back to work with a head cold!  Hooray!  What kind of person has 10 days off, many of which were relaxing and still gets sick? Apparently me!  Oh well, at least I look cute today!  New sweater and gingham shirt from Christmas!

 Sweater - Merona, Target
Gingham shirt - JCP, JCPenney
Pants - Ann Taylor, thrifted
Necklace - Maurices
Shoes - Madden Girl, thrifted

I'm of course jealous of Mr. Monkey, he took today off.  He deserves a day for himself, but man, I wish I could have stayed at home with him today!  I think today could be a long day.  Fortunately I kept checking in on my emails while I was away from work so I don't have too many surprises to deal with today.

The good news is, the weekend is only a couple of days today, we're already at Hump Day!  Short weeks for the win!  Onward and upward!

  1. A cute outfit and new clothes makes going back to work a little more bearable. Hopefully you are feeling better soon. I love the gingham top and how you paired it with the cardi. JCPenney has been kicking butt lately! Heather

  3. I hope you feel better, Beth! My hubby decided to take off the rest of this week while I'm still at work which stinks. We're both wearing gingham today :)

  4. Hey lady! Love that shirt! I am so sorry to hear you are sick. Take it from someone that was sick for most of break - drink so many liquids, drink, drink, drink and flush it OUT. I also tried a "mustard bath" that sounded weird (and smelled weirder) from the co-op (wedge) and it seriously helped. Not sure if it was hippie voodoo or the real thing, but it is worth a try! :) Hope you feel better soon darlin! xoxoxoxo

  5. Great attitude Bethie! GET WELL SOON! Thank you for the cake compliment on my photo. Hahahaha, was it BAD to post a photo that looks like a dessert so early in the morning?

  6. My man has the rest of the week off, so it was definitely a bummer to come back to work today, but hey! I am trying to be more optimistic about each day and you are right... it is already hump day, whoot whoot!

  10. I had a discussion with myself about working today... But I made it in! And the fact that there are only 3 days makes it that much easier!
I love how you layered the gingham under the cardigan! Looks so pulled together!

  14. Very nice Bethie! I like it when shirt tails can be free, and not tucked in. Boo to going back to work though.

  19. Boo to that! My holiday break ended today too, but thankfully I didn't have to suffer through it with a cold. I hope you feel better soon! I really like this look on you by the way! I feel like it's classic, but I thought having a printed button up in the same color as the cardigan was unexpected and looks great!

So sorry you're dealing with a crummy a cold. Hopefully you're getting it out of the way and won't have another one all year.

  22. Between the bright color and layering, this is seriously an adorable outfit. It's always hard to get back into the swing of things. Hopefully you are feeling better soon! Did the bright colors today help? :(

  23. I agree. JC Penney has been awesome in the last 2-3 years. I like the small Plaid paired with that Magenta-Burgundy Cardigan. Happy New Year 2013 Beth!!

    Take Care, Ada. =)
