Observant

No pants week continues!  Well other than Monday of course.  Today I decided to fancy up this black sweater dress with my obi belt, I haven't worn it in awhile.  Added the argyle tights and like the result.  Sometimes the simplest outfits are the most fun.

I had to laugh this morning though, I have worn this belt a number of times now.  Apparently the Pants Monkey was just now noticing that the belt is made out of neckties.  He's like "Is that made from old neckties?"  I'm like yes, my blog friend Megan makes these, I bought this way back this summer.  He pauses, then says "Well, you look cute today!"  Nice cover babe.  He's not always the most observant!

Dress - H&M from two birds garage sale
Tights - Kohls
Boots - Payless
Obi belt - MMD
Necklace and bracelets - S&D

Speaking of being observant, I was on my own last night for a bit as the Pants Monkey is part of a new beer club that was meeting last night.  So since I had some time, I decided, I own the entire series of Friends and have never watched the set from beginning to end, so since Mr. Monkey isn't a fan, I'll watch them when he's gone.  So I started with season one and observed how young they all were.  And then I thought about it - they were younger when they started that show than I am right this second.

To further drive home the depressing factor, then I remembered how old I was when I first started watching that show.  Let's just say it might not have even been super appropriate for me at the time.  Man.  Time flies. But I still get a kick out of that show.  The first season was the best.

  1. OK, so Cayla and I have every season of friends if you need any of them and we have watched (don't judge) the series SEVERAL times. I think this is a fabulous idea, and I swear, they get funnier every time I watch them!

  2. You are right about the simplest outfits being the best. I love the argyle tights with the rest of the outfit.

My husband surprises me sometimes with comments about my outfits or a specific item. Sometimes I don't think he notices certain things and then boom! he says something that surprises me, lol. I usually don't think he is always so observant. Heather

  12. It's sweet that your husband noticed you no matter what the reason. My husband can be oblivious at times. Anyway, Happy New Year to you, Beth. I love that you got this dress from twobirds yard sale...so jealous. It looks great styled with the obi belt. Thank you for dropping by, I promise that when I am finished with that sweater from Moth, it is yours...not goodwill. Dawn suitcase vignettes xo

  14. Your outfit is truly adorable, possibly one of my favourites of yours ever! I love the colour matching and the brilliant shape of the dress - plus a belt made out of ties? AWESOME!!!!!
I adore Friends too and I know series 1-4 off by heart literally because my sister and I used to put the videos on when we were teenagers whilst we did our ironing (yeh, who does ironing nowadays!?!?!) but I confess that around series 7-10, I'm pretty hazy on!! Great ideas!x

  15. The belt and the argyle tights are both cute. I think that I was 14 when Friends came on, but I haven't watched those old episodes in a long time.

  16. Great continuing of no pants/trousers week! Love the tights in particular. It's funny that Pantsmonkey is called PANTSmonkey, well this week it is anyway.

  17. What makes me feel even older is thinking about how I loved some of their early outfits... hated them in re-runs and now I"m thinking: "Hey, I love that (fill in outfit here). If fashion has had enough to cycle, wow... it has been a long time!

  19. AW! Love the tights with that obi. Silly Pants Monkey, what else could I recycle ties into! (Give me time and I will find more options!) The belt and tights really give a good punch to the LBD and boots.

I miss Friends. It was such a good show. Stupid at times, but heartwarming.

  22. I love how you've fancied up the black dress. The belt and tights really make it into something special! I was never really that into Friends but a few years ago some friends and I found some VHS (!) episodes at a thrift store. We had a great time watching the show together!

  24. The silver/gray accents are very sophisticated and look great with the black dress. That obi belt is amazing ... I plan to make one for myself out of two thrifted ties. Obi belts are such a great, easy way to add some color and figure flattery to a look!

  25. Love the obi belt made of ties -- I have quite a few of these myself! :) And my husband and I are die-hard Friends fan. We own the whole series and have watched it through many times.
