Visual FBFF: I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker With Flowers In My Hair

It's Friday! That means it's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday - and it's a Visual one at that.  The theme this week was choose an outfit based on a favorite song.  I have so many favorite songs - I was kind of at a loss as to which one to choose, but then on the way home from work yesterday one of my faves popped up on my iPod.  Sandi Thom's "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (with flowers in my hair)".  Suddenly I was inspired.

This shirt always reminds of a punk rock glam feel.  Sadly I had no true flowers to put in my hair - I really wanted to!  I was shopping with a friend last night and even looked for something, the best I found that I can handle wearing were these bobby pins that kind of look like flowers.  Overall I think you get the general idea though.  And of course it's casual Friday at work, so I went with jeans today, though I feel a flowy skirt of some sort would bring around the "hippie" theme of the song a bit more too.  Maybe a different day!

Success!

I take about five to six pictures every day for the blog and have mentioned here before too that I sometimes have problems with my camera.  The Pants Monkey helped me with some settings and the pictures I have been taking have been getting better, but I often still have one or two that come out a little fuzzy each day.  That was not the case today!  I'm so excited that all the pictures I took today were successful!

I love this new dress I have - it was one of my finds at the thrift store on Labor Day and it has such lovely colors for Fall!  It's perfect for these days that are still a bit on the warmish side.  I can hopefully wear it into the cooler months too with tights and boots or shoes of some sort!

So who else is happy that it's already Wednesday?  Man I love short weeks.  Next week will be a shorty too because we're going up north with some friends next weekend.  Definitely looking forward to that.

Annnndddd.....I broke my no purse buy.  I know.  I'm ashamed, but only a little!  I got an amazing deal on this bag, thank you TJ Maxx.  I plan to sell a couple of my purses to Clothes Mentor soon that I'm just not digging, so I feel that this was a fair trade off.  Other than that, today's outfit isn't terribly special, but definitely has some lovely colors for fall!

Like the 1st day of school....

As I took my pictures today, I reminisced a little about the first day of school since the majority of kids in our area went back today.  My mom took a picture of me on the first day all 12 years.  I wish I had them on my computer and could share them here!  I remember having to choose the "perfect" first day of school outfit and debating the issue for hours on the night before!  I don't miss my school days, but I do look back on them fondly.

I am excited to report that my thrift shopping yesterday yielded some awesome results and I should be sharing those here soon too.  In the meantime, here is a fun layered look for Fall!

Casual

On Saturday we spent the day touring some of the wineries in Southern MN.  We had a blast.  I went for a pretty casual outfit, but it was comfortable, especially when there was a lot of time spent in the car!  I'm getting away from screen printed t-shirts as much, but I like this one!

FBFF: Five Fall Trends

It's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday again!  Good thing too, I was having one of those mornings, so I didn't managed to get my outfit photographed today.

Today's FBFF is about Fall trends we're excited about wearing.  I've talked at length so far on this blog about how Fall is my favorite season.  I am uber excited to be back into sweaters and pants and different shades of color.  There are several trends I am really excited about - especially patterns because I am such a pattern girl!  Here are the things I am loving/my wish list.  All of these pictures are properties of the stores where I found them, websites are listed below each.

1. A chunky sweater - I love comfy warm sweaters, while the Pants Monkey prefers me in something a little more form fitting, I do like the comfort of a baggy sweater!

2. Lace up boots - I have wanted lace up boots since last year actually, I'm excited to see they are really growing in popularity this year.  I hope to find a cheaper version of the ones below here:

3. Hats - I adore hats and I love that old fashioned styles are coming back, such as fedoras.  This will be a must have for me.

5. Patterns (plaids, polka dots, etc) - I could never own enough plaid!  I always love plaid whether it's on trend or not, but I am really excited that it is on trend this year!

Suddenly September

So here we are on September 1st!  Crazy how this summer seemed to just fly by.  Fall is my favorite time of year so I'm really hoping life slows down just a wee bit.

The calendar says September today, but it's going to be more like July outside.  So I resurrected a sundress again - maybe pushing buttons for the office a little as it's kind of a shorty, I didn't notice that as much the last time I wore it, but that may have something to do with the taller shoes I'm wearing today.  At any rate, I'll be cool and comfortable in this afternoon's "100 +" heat index.
