Inspiration Monday - Frigid

So, I'll get it out of the way right away today - it's freaking cold here in Minnesota.  Really freaking cold.  Below zero Fahrenheit type cold.  But it's also January and it is Minnesota - this is how it's supposed to be.  It hasn't been for so long though, it's really hard to take!  So I think there will be a fair amount of whining today - even from yours truly!

Taking the sting off of our bitter snap here is Inspiration Monday.  Today's look is from Lauren Conrad who appears to be somewhere far warmer than me!

And here is my look.  It's classic and I like it, you can't go wrong with a crisp button shirt and my green corduroy pants are keeping me plenty warm today!  And look, I finally got a haircut.  It's back to being a lot cleaner and easier to deal with, but it helps that my favorite stylist was the one who cut it this time!

Before it got really cold on Saturday, we did some couch swapping with my in-laws.  Well, actually we got rid of two hideous couches that we had and then went and picked up a couch and loveseat my in-laws were getting rid of.  The stuff they had was in great condition, they just wanted something different and had promised this set to the Pants Monkey a long time ago, so when they asked if we wanted it now we said sure!  One of the two couches we got rid of I didn't dislike that much but the other one was awful.  And both of them made my living room look like an old lady's parlor - which I guess makes sense seeing as it was the Pants Monkey's great aunt's house before it was ours and we inherited all of her furniture, but still.  The stuff we now have is much more modern and very me - it's plaid!

So we were fortunate to get all of that accomplished before the winds blew in later in the day on Saturday and man, once it did, I just went into full on hibernation mode.  We went to church on Saturday evening to do a Mass with our group and then after that we pretty much hunkered down for the rest of the weekend!  Watched a couple of movies, did a bunch of laundry, the Pants Monkey made us a fun egg scramble thing for breakfast on Sunday and we made fajitas for dinner.

Blazer - Bill Blass, thrifted
Shirt - Mossimo, Target
Pants - Old Navy
Shoes - Mossimo, Target
Necklace - DIY by me

Getting back to the cold, I am adding a blazer to this look, as much as I like it better without - it's just too cold to not be piling on the layers!  You won't be seeing me in any skirts this week I think!  How's the weather where you are?

For more Inspiration Monday looks, head on over to two birds.

  3. It's freezing here too! We'll have below zero windchills over the next few days, so I had the same thought about not wearing skirts this week...haha. Don't you just love the feeling of a fresh hair cut?! We have the day off today, so I made an appointment to get mine cut later this afternoon...I can't wait!

  12. Wow, this look is great on you! Those pants are super cute- I love cords-so much warmer than jeans! Plus you always add such a fun piece of jewelry, which I love. It is frigid here too. Windchill is like -24 or something ridiculous. Stay warm friend! Also, your hair looks fabulous, I wish I could pull off short hair :)

  14. Love your green cords! ;) And we are in the upper 30s at the moment (which is plenty cold for me, thank you very much!) ;) Glad you got new sofas! There is just something about having furniture your love that makes you happy! It's almost as good as a new pair of shoes. Almost. ;) We had a hideous tweed sleeper sofa for years after we got married (it was thrifted). We finally got new couches (green microfiber) right before I got pregnant. We had been married for nine years. Nine years of hideousness. ;)
By the way I nominated you for another Liebster! (I know you've gotten them before.) Come by and check out the details!
    And stay warm!

  15. Oh Bethie! I hope you are staying warm!!! Our high today is 13°. Yes the snow is still on the trees and ground. We got about to 32° on Saturday for about 20 minutes and some snow on the rooftops were dripping . I need to get out and takes some snaps of the killer icicles around here. Your green cords are very warm looking!!!

And ...thanks for the comments about my baby LL. :D

  17. It's very cold here too. I can't believe I decided to get into a skirt, but I was alright with a coat. I love your cords! I have been all about corduroys this winter.

Congrats on the new-to-you furniture! Unfortunately most of our furniture is plastic or press board. Only way I've been able to vertically store everything.

  18. Beth, you nailed this one! Love how comfortable this look is. The little blazer really goes well with the rest of the outfit. I miss having corduroys in my wardrobe. They are so comfy!

  20. Brrr it's freezing here too, I hibernated all weekend (only left to buy a cool air humidifier because despite the cold of outside, it is very dry & hot in our house!) I really like the colour of your pants and those shoes are amazing!

  21. I could never live in your part of the country: that's way too cold! Which makes your being stylish even more impressive. I'd be unstylishly wrapped in a big coat all day!

  22. I agree with you, there's nothing like a crisp collared button-down shirt!

  23. Yeah this weather is just unacceptable... why do we live here again?
