Thrift Style Thursday - Marsala

It's Thrift Style Thursday again!  Today's theme is brought to us by Miche of Buttons and Birdcages. We're showcasing Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year - Marsala!  Now of course, me being me, I immediately think of wine when I think of marsala!  I wasn't sure I had anything thrifted that would work for this, I have a lovely marsala colored dress, but it's not thrifted.  Then I remembered this sweater that I have and I figured it would work pretty nicely!

I also added the jeans I just featured on a Thrift Style Thursday only a few weeks ago for Winter white - I thought they'd go well with this sweater.  I also added my favorite red booties (thank you again Jes!) because I thought they'd pop well with these pants and they're also sort of wine like!

Sweater - Derek Heart (thrifted), T-shirt - Merona (Target)
Jeans - DKNY (thrifted), Boots - from friend
Necklace - Charming Charlie

Speaking of wine, a friend of mine sent me this picture on Twitter yesterday and given the type of day I was having, it felt rather appropriate:

This of course led to jokes that every day is National Drink Wine day and somehow spun off into Whine and Wine day and yeah.  It made me laugh in the midst of a difficult work day.  And I may have celebrated said holiday last night because of said work day.  I'll never tell.

Be sure to check out how the other thrifty gals are styling their marsala at their blogs below!  Are you a fan of this year's color of the year?  Or like me, would you rather just drink your wine instead of wearing it?

Thrift Style Thursday - Winter White Out

Thursday again?  The week is just flying by!  Anyway, welcome to Thrift Style Thursday!  This week's theme, chosen by Megan of Ecleticity is Winter White Out.  I decided to check out the thrift store and see if I could find a pair of white jeans, because I actually wouldn't mind having a pair.  I didn't find straight white, but I found something close and kind of built a "whitish" outfit around them.  I also attempted to take pictures in what little snow we have left around here, it's been unseasonably warm and everything is melting!

I have a hard time doing straight on all white.  It's nothing against white - I'm actually a bit of a messy person, as it was, I did end up spilling a little bit of Ollie's dinner on these pants before the end of the day.  Oops!  Better find my Stain Stick!!

Sweater - Gap (thrifted), Jeans - DKNY (thrifted)
Boots - Target, Necklace - Stella and Dot
Hair flower - from Secret Santa swap

Overall I liked how this nice neutral feeling look turned out.  I had originally thought I'd do something white and black for this day, but I like the soft, feminine feel of what I came up with instead.  I look forward to styling these fun new pants in other ways too!

Be sure to check out other white out styles from the other Thrift Style Thursday gals at their blogs below!

Springy gingham

Hello everyone!  Sorry for the radio silence yesterday.  Mr. Monkey got back into town late on Sunday and we both took yesterday off - he to recover from his travels, me to just spend some time with him!  We slept in and didn't really get dressed for the day until we headed out for dinner in the evening! Anyway, I'm back to the grind today.

This is the other shirt I bought last week to potentially use on the "Lemon Zest" day of the Pantone color challenge and then ended up wearing the sweater I bought instead because it was cold.  This shirt was a steal though, I picked it up for $1.49!  You can't beat it!  It's hard to tell from the photos, but it's a nice gingham print too, which is going to be awesome for spring and summer.

Gingham shirt - Old Navy, thrifted
Cami - Old Navy
Skirt - DKNY, consignment
Sandals - Merona, Target
Necklace - Camy Couture
Bag - Lillian's Shoppes

I have to say, I'm finally starting to get the Pants Monkey more into thrifting.  Yesterday he realized he has no shorts that fit since losing a bunch of weight and decided he wanted to wear shorts since it is finally warmer out, so instead of spending a ton of money on new ones we hit up a thrift store.  He found a pair with original tags still on for only $10.  I think he's finally seeing the light!

Flower power

Today's This or That choice was tribal or floral.  I don't really have anything that fits with the tribal trends as of right now, so I stuck to the easy choice of floral.  I'm super bummed that this yellow shirt didn't photograph well, it has white embroidered flowers at the top of it and you can't see it in any of these photos!  Oh well.  I seem to have nothing but trouble photographing my outfit when I wear this particular skirt.  So I'm just going to blame the skirt.  It's not my horrible point and shoot camera at all.

I also did not wear the platform sandals I talked about yesterday.  I still wore a wedge today, but the ones I was talking about didn't match this outfit.  See the skirt I originally thought I'd wear for floral today I looked at this morning and noticed the pattern wasn't actually flowers...it's fruit.  So there was a last minute change in plans at 6:30 this morning!

It's all for the best I suppose, because my sandals also have a flower on them, so I'm just keeping in with the floral theme all over the place!

And because it is bugging me, I snapped a quick close up of my shirt detail after I got into work with my phone.  Sorry it's kind of a busty shot, but at least you get the idea!  Also ignore my ugly work badge that's clipped to the shirt.

There, that's better!  I just thought it matched my skirt so well and I just wanted to share it!  See, I'm not lying, there really is white embroidered flowers on the shirt!

All right, enough screwing around, better get back to work.  Head on over to Megan Mae's blog here for the master list of This or That participants.

Outfit rundown:
Shirt - Talbots (from cousin)
Skirt - DKNY (thrifted)
Sandals - Target
Bracelet - Stella and Dot
