Just can't get enough

Well I told you guys I'd try and get as much mileage out of this dress as I could before the winter was over!  And while it sounds like we can expect at least another month worth of winter here in MN, I still wanted to pull it out again before it got too late!  I just love it so much and I still have other ideas for it!

Even though it's still winter, it is finally getting lighter in the mornings so outdoor pictures are getting easier again!  It was plenty cold though this morning, as I'm sure you can see by my poses here!  I'm not freezing at all, nope.

It's also staying lighter later into the day as well which I just love.  It's making me less in hibernation mode to have it be sunny when I'm leaving work as opposed to it already being dark out!

Dogging it

Today called for a warm sweater and a scarf.  It's getting colder again and they're using the "w" word again too (windchill).  I decided to take this scottie dog sweater for another spin.  It's warm and cozy and who doesn't want to wear scottie dogs to the office?

So you all know I'm a crazy cat lady, but I do like dogs quite a bit as well.  In fact, Mr. Monkey and I would love to have a dog in addition to our two kitties, but we're just not home enough right now to make that really worthwhile.  The cats are independent enough that if we're not around it's not a big deal, but a dog would be unhappy.  Especially because we'd love a golden retriever and they are fairly social.  We have the best yard ever for a dog, so I believe it will happen someday though!

Until that day comes, I'll just keep loving on my kitties and getting my dog fix through shirts like this one!

Inspiration Monday - Vintage chic

Well, welcome back to Monday.  And October?  Where did that sneak up on us?  Crazy.  I'm not complaining, there are many wonderful things coming up in October that I cannot wait for, but still, it's already here?  Wow.  Well, I'll stop calendar obsessing and instead get right to this week's Inspiration Monday - this week's actress is Busy Phillips. 

I wanted so badly to find some cute short boots this weekend for this look, but other stuff got in the way of that happening.  So instead I took my slouchy black boots and rolled them down to make them short!  Fun fact about the rest of this outfit - it's all vintage!  I kind of love that I could pull off a trendy look with vintage pieces!

In the end I decided my feet were going to be too warm as these are very warm boots and it's unseasonably warm for October 1st today - so while I love this look, I swapped them out for basic black flats, seen in the next picture.  I like the look of the boots a little better though!

I may prefer the look of the boots because they hide my skinny white legs a little more!  Oh well.  I've never been one to tan very much!

Today's This or That Trend choice was platforms or flats.  I was all set to wear some platform sandals that I have with a skirt, but then the weather today has decided to flash forward to Fall, so I decided to have a pants day and go with my tried and true all time favorite flats.  If you're a regular reader of the blog, you've seen these before.

My mom found me these a few years ago now at DSW, the tweed/herringbone type pattern totally drew her to them because she knew that I would love them.  Funny story though, while I did think they were adorbs the first time I saw them, I didn't wear them for a good two or three years on a real regular basis.  Yes, you heard me right, these shoes mostly sat in my closet not getting any love.  Why would I do that?  Because I used to think I was too short to wear flats.  I have changed my thinking on that in the last year or so and now I can't get enough of flats, especially these!

So as I said, I was cold this morning, so not only did I wear pants, I grabbed a sweater too!  It's a bit stuffy in my office though, so I can always take off the sweater if need be.  Minnesota summer is so fickle.  It will be hot again in a few days.  I'm enjoying this taste of Fall while I can, I don't really like the super hot stuff unless I can spend time in a pool or at the beach!

As I was getting ready to write about my "Flats" I couldn't help but think of "Flat Stanley".  Ever heard of that?  Or those of you with kids, have your kids had a chance to do a "Flat Stanley" project?  It's the cutest thing, I believe there is a book about him, but basically teachers have their students mail a "Flat Stanley" that they made to someone and have them take him on adventures and take pictures of it to send back to the students along with him.  My in-laws did a "Flat Stanley" for some relatives from Texas.  They took pictures of him in front of the Mall of America, the Spoonbridge and Cherry, and even just out in the snow to represent Minnesota.  It was really quite cute.

I gotta say, these flats sure are comfy!  I do like the additional height from a platform shoe, but there is something to be said for a shoe that is so comfy you think you're wearing a slipper to work!  If it's warmer tomorrow I will probably wear the platforms with tomorrow's outfit instead, so you'll still get to see them!
