One of those mornings

It's been one of those mornings.  It was one of those mornings you don't want to drag yourself out of bed because your bed is so nice and warm and it's super cold in your house.  And then you don't want to drag yourself out of the shower because the shower is so nice and warm.  And then the pair of tights you wanted to wear you discover have a giant run in them so you have to choose another pair.  And then you realize just how behind schedule you are and you haven't taken your blog photos or made your coffee to go yet and then you see there is frost on your car for the first time this year.  Yep it was one of those mornings.

I barely made it to work on time and was forced to do my photos here, which I'm never as fond of.  But I do what I have to do!  And I liked my outfit today, even if these weren't my intended tights.  I was going to wear gray ones to tone the blue down a bit, but I went with the blue ones instead.  Hopefully I don't look too much like an alien in red shoes.

I also can't believe I never paired this shirt and skirt together last winter.  I like the combination.  Funny how we see things differently after not looking at them for awhile!

I think I'm going to have to start setting my alarm earlier now that it is getting colder out.  It'll help me get moving better I think!  Do you have a hard time getting going when the weather changes?

Lighter

Well after such a dark colored outfit yesterday I thought I'd lighten things up a bit today.  Which is especially helpful since it was raining this morning.  We haven't had much rain at all, we're totally in a drought, but I kind of wish it wasn't raining.  We've been working on sealing and staining our deck before a big party we're having this weekend so this is not working well with my plans!  Oh well, my lawn will finally be happy!

Today I'm wearing my "changing with the light" pants.  The picture never reflects the fun colored lines in these pants.  Still, they are one of my favorite pairs and if you saw them in person I'm sure you'd see why.  They go with nearly everything.  Also thought I'd give a close up of my shoes because I don't think I did the last time I wore them.  These are my new favorites because they are plaid!

And that's about all I have today!  Super exciting I know!  I do want to point you all to Sheila's blog, she has a post up with all the party dresses from her virtual birthday party and it's a ton of fun to see.  Thank you all again for your sweet comments on my sassy little number!  It's a fun dress and for those wondering, yes, the Pants Monkey loves it!

Inspiration Monday - The Best Laid Plans

Well it is Monday again!  I love today's Inspiration Monday outfit from Rachel Bilson - so cozy and comfy looking while being a little chic.  I had a great outfit planned that I was going to wear out on Saturday night, but our plans changed kind of last minute due to circumstances beyond our control.  In the end though, the weekend was good, I have no complaints and our night in on the couch was just what the doctor ordered I think!  And we got a lot of work done on some stuff yesterday, so it was all for the best.  But I wanted to do this inspiration, so I was forced to get creative and make it work for work.

So here you have it.  I feel a bit goth in how this all turned out.  I think it's all the black, not to mention, I finally got cute booties - but they have buckles that make them feel a little gothic I guess.  Hopefully this isn't too dark feeling!

I got this skirt a while back at a vintage shop and I do like it, but I think next time I'll pair it with something a little more colorful!

I wanted to give you a close up of the booties.  I got them on sale, so that made me happy.  Now I just need a pair of brown or tan ones and I think I'll be all set!

So there you have it.  I did my best with this one, but it's not my favorite I think.  I'll have to try the outfit I had in mind for Saturday another time!

As always, head on over to the two birds blog to see other Inspiration Monday outfits!  Isn't this new button they have cute?

Get your party dress on

Confession - this is not what I'm wearing on my Saturday.  It's crazy cold today, but I wanted to put on a party dress for Sheila of Ephemera's virtual birthday party!  She asked us all to put on our best party dress, so I chose this one, especially because I wore it to the MN Blogger get together a few weeks ago and forgot to take outfit photos that day - so now you all can see it!

I kept in the kitty photo bomb because Sheila is a cat lover too, so I figured she'd appreciate my Pippin here!

The day of the blogger get together was much warmer for a dress like this, I added a denim jacket and was quite comfy.  Today I'd need tights and a warm sweater if I was going to venture outside.  But at any rate, I had to celebrate one of my favorite bloggers from afar - so happiest of birthdays to you dear Sheila, cheers to you!!

Now where did my sweatshirt go again?  Brr.

PS - I don't remember where I got this dress anymore - I've had it a very long time, but I still love it tons!

Fun facts on Friday

Well here is Friday again!  And there was great rejoicing throughout the land!  It felt like a long week and yet, it also went by kind of quickly.  At any rate, the weekend is now upon us and I could not be more happy!  It was a chilly one this morning so long sleeves and pants seemed the best choice to me!

My brain is pretty fried today, so I thought I'd do something a little different for today's post.  I'll call it Fun Facts Friday and share some random stuff about me.  Because you like to learn more about me right?  Just smile and nod your head and humor me.

Fact - I love reading recipes and watching cooking shows but I really don't like to cook.
Fact - I actually enjoy vacuuming.  It's my favorite chore.  And it gives you a little workout!
Fact - I have a walking/workout DVD that I have used so many times I have worn out the sound.  The picture works but there is no sound.
Fact - I have only been out of the country twice - to Canada and to the Bahamas.
Fact - I have seen the Atlantic Ocean but not the Pacific and I want to change that.
Fact - The best live concert I have ever been to was Josh Groban last summer and I'm not embarrassed to admit I am a Grobanite.
Fact - I have a little desk gnome at work that my sister-in-law gave me named Olaf.

Told you they'd be random!  I hope you all have wonderful weekends!  Based on the above pictures, I think I have some leaf raking in my weekend plans!

Pin-spired

Yep, I'm still on the Pinterest bandwagon.  I know some have moved on from it, but I still can't get enough of it.  And today's outfit is inspired by a pin I found on Pinterest.  This is a color combination I've never tried, but fell in love with when I saw it.  Here is the pin:

And here is my take on it:

I don't have a cute scarf like that, but I thought this little sweater would be an acceptable substitute.  I need to invest in more scarves this year I've decided, but that's a whole other subject.  Anyway, I like how this came together.  Not to mention, it's super cozy since it's much more like Fall outside today!

I'm running low on sleep and not enough caffeine yet, so that's about all I can manage today!  But I do want to direct you to this awesome post I took part in over at Practical Paralegalism.  Lynne hosted a Goodwill Goldmine post and it's so fun to see all the awesome thrifty ladies out there.  You can check it out here.  Thanks for hosting Lynne!  I'm getting a Goodwill dangerously close to my office in December - I'm not going to lie, very excited about it and I see where my lunch hours are going very soon!

Try a little something new

Nothing I'm wearing today is new, but it is another new combination I pulled together for this dress.  I still think this dress is my favorite item of clothing that I own!  And I love finding new ways to wear it.  Someday I'll pull together all the ways I've remixed it so far, maybe after I've had it a full year - I still haven't even had it that long yet!

There was a live action children's show when I was young on the Disney Channel (now mind you this is when the Disney Channel was brand new and you had to pay extra for it - I had generous parents) called Welcome to Pooh Corner.  In it, the characters were larger versions than in the cartoon - they were basically people inside a walk around costume.  Anyway in the show there was a song that Rabbit sang about trying new things.  "Try a little something new, try a little something different, try a little something no one else has done."  So I'm thinking this morning about how I love trying new things with this dress and of all random things that song popped into my head.  I haven't watched that show in close to 20 years at this point - how would I remember that?  My brain is a fun place to be sometimes, let me tell you!

Anyway, besides nostalgia, I have nothing else terribly exciting to share today other than I was able to take some decent outdoor pictures again!  This time of year is just tricky.  And yes, I still have bare legs.  It's going to be 80 degrees today, possibly for the last time, so I wasn't about to cover them up!  The bottom falls out tomorrow though.  I am ok with that though, I'm ready for tights!!  Cover up these pale legs!

I'll leave you with the intro to the old Welcome to Pooh Corner so you can see more of what I was talking about.  I tried to find the Try A Little Something New Song, but no luck.  All I can say about this show was, it was 1983. And I'm sorry if it gives you nightmares, looking back it's a little frightening, but it was one of my favorites when I was 4 years old!
