Thrift Style Thursday - Color Pop

I was all over this week's theme for Thrift Style Thursday, brought to us by Kristi from Delightfully Kristi - Color Pop!  What a wonderful and awesome way to brighten up these long final winter days! And let me tell you, winter sure has been showing it's ugly head round here these last few days! Another reason I was excited about this week's theme is that I've been working on putting more color into my wardrobe over the last couple of years and I finally feel like I'm getting there.  I used to wear so many neutrals, especially in winter, and I've really worked to change that.  Today I have two outfits to share.

This first look highlights some more colored pants I was lucky to find.  Both the pink top and pants I found at the very awesome local consignment shop b. (a resale shop).  If you're local to Minneapolis and you haven't been to this store, you need to go.  Anyway, I bought these things at the same time and didn't even intend to wear them together, but they ended up looking nice together, so I decided to make them into an outfit!

Shirt and pants - b (a resale shop), White sweater - Stitch Fix
Boots - Target, Necklace - Stella and Dot

This next look also features some colored pants of mine that are not thrifted, but I paired them with some items that are thrifted.  I had shoved these mint pants into a storage bin for the winter but then thought about it and decided, why not wear them in winter?  They'll give a nice fresh feeling!  And I couldn't believe how nice they paired with this sweater I got at a swap a while back.  It makes the sparkle in the sweater pop I think!  Added my favorite thrifted jean jacket for extra warmth and I was good to go!

Sweater - Love21 (from swap), Jacket - White House, Black Market (thrifted)
Pants - JCPenney, Boots - Target, Necklace - Stella and Dot

These bright colors may have me longing for spring, but they're definitely brightening up winter for sure!  What are your favorite ways to add color to an outfit?  And make sure to check out my fellow Thrift Style Thursday friends at their blogs below for more colorful looks!

Dinner Outfit

Well, we still have a sick kiddo on our hands.  We saw Dr. Uncle over the weekend and it's a viral infection that just has to run it's course, but I tell you it hasn't been fun waiting for that to happen. We ended up missing our family gathering on Saturday so we could let Ollie stay home and rest, but I took advantage and at least got some wrapping done.  We treated ourselves to take out dinner from one of our favorite places and watched one of our favorite movies on Saturday night.

Sunday we still managed to get out for our dinner with friends and it was a nice break to get away for a little bit!  I thought I'd share my outfit even though the pictures aren't fabulous, first things on the list for 2015 are to get back to using my good camera and upgrading my dang iPhone I think!

Sweater - Mossimo (Target), Sweaterdress - H&M (two birds garage sale)
Leggings - Target, Boots - b. (a resale shop)
Necklace - Stella and Dot

We enjoyed some fantastic Italian food and the company of some good friends, it was a lovely evening.  We thought Ollie seemed to be turning a corner, but this morning seems to have suffered a bit of a setback, so I'm home from work again today with him.  Thank goodness for a good PTO program I guess.  I was going to have a short week this week anyway and it just got even shorter. Here's hoping I can at least get into work for a little bit tomorrow.  And here's hoping my boy is healthy for Christmas.  I know lots of you out there are dealing with sicknesses too, so I'm also hoping for health for everyone else too!  We go one day at a time.

Thrift Style Thursday - Fall Scarves

What a timely post for this week's Thrift Style Thursday!  I was just talking the other day about how scarves have been my accessory of choice most days in my new style vibe!  I really do love them, I just can't seem to get enough these days!  The one I'm wearing today was a super score from Savers - $2.99.  Yep, you can't beat that.  It's lightweight enough that it would work in the summer, but the colors definitely help give it a fall/winter vibe.  I love the girly ruffles as well!

I seriously think in the last two months I have doubled the number of scarves I actually own.  It could be viewed as a problem, but at least with this new addiction the bonus is - scarves hardly take up any room for storage, unlike purses and shoes!  They fold up small and can easily go in a drawer!

Sweater - Lands End, Denim top - Old Navy (from an awesome IG friend)
Pants - b. (a resale shop), Scarf - thrifted (Savers)
Boots - Target

I'm excited to be participating in a scarf swap with some other bloggers this month too.  I love swaps! I already found an awesome scarf to send to my giftee, I can't wait to see what she sends me!

Are you a fan of scarves as an accessory?  Or do they just serve the purpose of keeping you warm in the winter?

Thrift Style Thursday - Pinspired

It's no secret to my blog readers that I love Pinterest and I love using it for outfit inspiration.  So, when the Thrift Style Thursday group chose "Inspired by Pinterest" for the theme this week I knew I'd have no trouble with it at all.  I have SO many ideas to choose from it was actually tough to narrow down!  I settled on this one because it allowed me to wear my new sweater from Target - no it's not thrifted, but there are other thrifted items in my look.

Photos were a challenge this morning unfortunately, it was dark and rainy outside and then Oliver was kind enough to share his cold with mama, so I was low on drive to make these better, but hopefully you get the idea!

Sweater - Mossimo (Target), Dress - Swap
Tights and boots - Target, Bag -  Vintage Coach (b. resale)
Barrette - Gift

I used to be so afraid to mix black and brown elements together but I'm getting more and more willing to do it.  I love this little black and white striped dress I managed to snag at a clothing swap when I was still pregnant (and actually wore at least once over the belly!) and I really love the brown pieces I added and the mustard sweater.  It makes for a nice cozy fall look!  I'm also pretty jazzed about this bag that I found while shopping with my blog buddies at b. resale in Minneapolis last night - I'm a sucker for vintage Coach and I've been looking for this brown leather style for awhile now!  They price their items very reasonably so I had no qualms about bringing this guy home with me.  I also found the most adorable black booties (thanks to Megan Bird for pointing them out to me!) and some fun pairs of pants.  Retail therapy rules.  Maybe not the most practical thing ever, but hey, it still made me feel good!

Overall I really love my outfit today.  I have some other pinned ideas for this mustard sweater too, so I'm guessing it might be in heavy rotation for awhile!

Short but sweet

Whew, what a busy weekend!  It was good, but way too short.  Not to mention, we're still recovering from the crazy snowstorm.  The main issue now is it's super crazy cold again, so all the roads have turned to sheer ice.  It's fabulous.

Even as busy as things were it was a good weekend though.  Friday was a bit of a trying day because of the storm and also Oliver was in a bit of a growth spurt and super cranky and refusing the bottle at my parents house, so I received a couple of frantic calls from my mom.  But then the rest of the weekend got better. Saturday we went out for breakfast.  After that I got a few things done at home and then after Ollie went down for a nap I ran and got a haircut finally!  Feels SO much better having it short and spiky again!  I went to do a mass with our church group while Mr. Monkey took the baby to his parents house, then we had dinner with them and they watched him while we had a birthday drink with a good friend.

Blazer - two birds vintage via b. (a resale shop)
Tank top - Motherhood Maternity nursingwear
Pants - Worthington, JCPenney
Necklace - gift
Buttonflower - MMD
Shoes - Mossimo, Target

Yesterday was then a pretty big day - it was Oliver's baptism.  I'll have pictures to share in another post, but it went pretty well overall!  I was pretty proud of my little guy!  As great as it was, it did lead to the weekend being a bit too short feeling though!  Next weekend we have absolutely nothing lined up at all and we're really excited about it.  Quality family time here we come!
