The Bethie Bunch

One of my co-workers said "hey you're wearing the Brady Bunch pants today!"  These wild pants are reminiscent of something out of the 70's I suppose!  I still love them though!  Long time readers of this blog know how much I love plaid - and these pants!

My co-worker is a good guy though.  Really I have a great team of folks to work with.  We're our own version of the Brady Bunch I suppose!  They make it easier for me to be at work and away from my baby, I think if I didn't have great folks to work with, it would be a lot harder.  My new boss is working out well too - he also is a dad to three little ones, so it's helpful that he understands when things come up with Ollie.

Bag - Lulu's

And our never ending winter continues, so today just called for a cozy sweater with my crazy pants.  I'm relieved we didn't get as much snow as they originally predicted!  Spring starts tomorrow - maybe we'll actually get a spring this year.  One can hope!  In Minnesota we have to always have hope!

Weather yo-yo

Well we have been on quite the weather yo-yo lately.  From 90 last week to chilly 50's today with drizzle.  That's spring in Minnesota for you I guess!  Today was one of those days that you just didn't want to get out of bed.  It just felt too good, it was cool in the room, the blankets were warm and it was dark.  Why can't it be like that when I have a day off and can really sleep in?

 Sweater - Mossimo, Target
Shirt - Michael Kors, from Lynne
Pants - No Boundaries, thrifted
Necklace - thrifted
Shoes - Kohls

So this outfit really looks better without the sweater, so I took a picture of that as well, but it's so darn cold that I need the sweater!  We can just pretend I look more like this second photo today.  It will be our little secret!

We are getting closer to our holiday weekend here in the US and I'm looking forward to a three day weekend.  The weather sounds like it might actually be getting nicer for the weekend too, so that would be really quite nice!  We're celebrating our wedding anniversary and we have a family picnic so you know, no rain would be a good thing!

Wild and crazy gal

Figured it's been awhile since the crazy pants have made an appearance.  I decided to wear this cute little bow shirt from Cambria to hopefully dial down the crazy a little bit.  I just love these pants though, crazy as they are!

Speaking of things that are crazy, I was watching this week's Saturday Night Live on Hulu this morning (cause I'm old and never make it to the live version on Saturdays!) and just about died when Steve Martin and Dan Akroyd brought out their "Wild and Crazy Guys" during the "It's a Date" sketch.  And I realized that these pants are rather similar to the ones that they wear.  Just give me a flowered button shirt...or maybe not.

Long sleeve shirt - Gap, thrifted
Bow t-shirt - H&M, from Cambria
Pants - No Boundaries, thrifted
Necklace - Bead for Life
Shoes - Mossimo, thrifted

Here is something else that is wild - yesterday I got home from work and it was nice enough outside to go for a walk, so I did.  It was so nice to get some fresh air.  Today however, we woke up to another blanket of light snow.  Come on winter, time to pack it up and go home!

I'll leave you with a clip of the original Wild and Crazy Guys sketch from the 70's - this is one of my dad's favorite sketches, apparently he and my uncle used to act this out all the time.  I love the classic SNL!

The hunter

Good day friends.  Today is not my best attempt, I was a bit frazzled getting ready this morning.  Both Mr. Monkey and myself ended up running behind today because Taylor cat was trying to convince us we had mice.

Sweater - Mossimo, Target
T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - No Boundaries, thrifted
Shoes and necklace - Clothes Mentor

In the morning, my routine is get up and lightly prod her to go use her litter box as she sometimes has had issues in the past, we find if we just remind her a couple of times a day (kind of like a small child!) she has no issues.  So, I got up today and went to find her and she was in the kitchen staring at the cupboards.  I assumed maybe she had chased a bug or something, but didn't really see anything.  I nudged her downstairs where she reluctantly did her business and then raced back upstairs to sit by this spot.  Staring.  Now I'm a little unnerved.  The last time she acted like that was long before we even had Pippin a few years ago - in our basement office where we discovered we had mice.  So of course, now I'm thinking, oh crap.

I got Mr. Monkey out of bed and told him what was going on and we spent the next few minutes opening all the cupboards, drawers and whatever and let Miss Taylor investigate further.  Pippin had no interest whatsoever.  Taylor got in the cupboard and kind of sniffed in and around the drawers we pulled out.  We didn't find a darn thing.  No clue what that was all about!  It's an odd time of year for mice anyway, they would have had to have come in this Fall and you'd have thought we'd have noticed them by now!

So after all was said and done we were a good 15 minutes behind schedule, which is a big deal in the morning.  Taylor still seemed a bit interested in the kitchen, but much less so after we let her investigate!  Perhaps she saw a ghost instead.  Never a dull moment with pets I tell you.

I see dead people...or mice

The hypocrite

Yes friends, I'm wearing these pants again!  Someday I'll count how many times I've worn them in the last year.  I love them, I can't help it.  And it's my Friday, so I'll wear what I want to.  I added this vintage collegiate feeling sweater.  It also reminds me of Mr. Rogers for some reason too though.  I doubt sweet Mr. Rogers would have ever worn pants like these though unless he was on crack or something!

Sweater - Hill Valley Vintage
T-shirt - Decree, JCPenney
Pants - No Boundaries, thrifted
Shoes - Madden Girl, thrifted
Necklace - S&D

Speaking of Mr. Rogers on crack (that's a statement I never thought I'd say) have any of you seen the Mr. Rogers Remix video on YouTube?  There is also one for the Bob Ross Joy Of Painting show.  Someone basically took a bunch of clips and auto tuned them into something new and semi-musical.  When the Mr. Rogers one came out, a lot of my Facebook friends were just going on and on about how awesome it was and I was sitting here going, this is bastardizing my childhood!  It's just wrong!  Mr. Rogers and auto tune?  No!

Well then this week, a new one came out featuring Reading Rainbow.  And I kind of geeked out.  I loved Reading Rainbow even more than Mr. Rogers for some reason when I was a kid.  I had a little kid crush on LeVar Burton.  Yes I just said that, I can't unsay it now.  Anyway, I watched the Reading Rainbow Remix video and I kind of loved it.  But then I thought, I can't go geeking out about this after bashing the Mr. Rogers one!  I'd be a hypocrite!

Well, call me a hypocrite.  I love this!

Only you...

I usually live in skirts and dresses in the summer and this summer will be no exception.  But some days you wake up and say, I don't want to shave my legs today!  So, I give myself a break with some pants every now and then!  Plus, these are my favorite, if you've been reading my blog awhile you know how much I love these pants.  I just really felt like I needed them today.  We've been hit by the allergy fairy at our house which means the Pants Monkey and I are groggy and cranky most mornings lately, so today I needed the pick me up I get from wearing these!  Plus, I haven't worn them with this red shirt yet!

Funny story, I get into work and go to punch in, and the downstairs receptionist looks at me and says "that is a cute outfit, I really like it."  I say thank you and get ready to go on my way and then she says "only YOU can pull off pants like that."  And she really did mean it as a compliment, but the way she said it was kind of like "only YOU can prevent forest fires."  I laughed and thanked her again.

I get a lot of compliments every time I wear this red shirt.  It is not something I would have likely picked out for myself, so I have to thank Megan and Nora Bird - if they hadn't pulled it out for me at their styling event in January I wouldn't have it now and wouldn't have so many people tell me they like it!  I love it!

Outfit rundown:
Shirt - two birds vintage, b. (a resale shop)
Pants - No Boundaries, thrifted
Necklace - Stella and Dot (La Coco collection)
Bracelet - Charming Charlie
Sandals - Merona, Target
