Short but sweet

Whew, what a busy weekend!  It was good, but way too short.  Not to mention, we're still recovering from the crazy snowstorm.  The main issue now is it's super crazy cold again, so all the roads have turned to sheer ice.  It's fabulous.

Even as busy as things were it was a good weekend though.  Friday was a bit of a trying day because of the storm and also Oliver was in a bit of a growth spurt and super cranky and refusing the bottle at my parents house, so I received a couple of frantic calls from my mom.  But then the rest of the weekend got better. Saturday we went out for breakfast.  After that I got a few things done at home and then after Ollie went down for a nap I ran and got a haircut finally!  Feels SO much better having it short and spiky again!  I went to do a mass with our church group while Mr. Monkey took the baby to his parents house, then we had dinner with them and they watched him while we had a birthday drink with a good friend.

Yesterday was then a pretty big day - it was Oliver's baptism.  I'll have pictures to share in another post, but it went pretty well overall!  I was pretty proud of my little guy!  As great as it was, it did lead to the weekend being a bit too short feeling though!  Next weekend we have absolutely nothing lined up at all and we're really excited about it.  Quality family time here we come!

Calm before the storm

It was so nice outside yesterday.  Lots of stuff melted, I didn't have to bundle the baby too much to go outside, I barely needed gloves.  This morning you step outside and it's still warmish, it smells like spring...but there's this ominous feeling of something looming out there.  We're about to get hit with another giant snowstorm.  Sigh.  I choose to live here...I choose to live here....repeat....repeat....

I am getting a kick out of the fact that apparently they have named this latest storm "Seneca".  Hunger Games much?  Too perfect!

Thankfully my boss has already said if things get crazy enough later, I can leave early.  I think we'll be hunkering down tonight and doing very little...which let's face it, we're new parents, that is pretty much every night for us right now!

True Blue

I think this is my first wear of my beloved Anthro pants since I've had Oliver.  I looked in my archives and it appears the last time I wore them it was June and I could just barely button them at the time.  I'm so happy I can wear them again!  Still one of my best thrifted finds ever!!

Sweater - Mossimo, Target
Cami - Motherhood Maternity
Pants - Anthropologie, thrifted
Scarf - Stella and Dot
Shoes - Mudd, Kohls

I haven't been shopping for myself in forever.  I keep buying things for Ollie since he's growing like a weed - starting to pop out of even some of his three month clothes and moving into size 2 diapers!  I just haven't bought myself anything and I'm getting the bug.  I think it might be time for a thrift store trip if nothing else!

Attractive Nursing Wear

My outfits these days are pretty much based on what I can easily nurse in.  This means a lot of camis and sweaters pretty much.  I was excited to find this sweater/tank combo at Motherhood Maternity shortly before Christmas.  I think it's funny, I pretty much avoided shopping at Motherhood the entire time I was pregnant because of cost - I just didn't think it was worth it when I could find items from Motherhood at the consignment and thrift store.  But when the Pants Monkey and I went mall walking with Oliver the week after he was born I found that even the big department stores were kind of devoid of nursing wear.  In fact, most of them were devoid even of maternity wear.  So, we ventured into Motherhood and they happened to be having a good sale.

Top - Motherhood Maternity
Jeans - LOFT, consignment
Shoes - Clothes Mentor consignment

I got this top and several others thanks to a buy three, get one free deal.  My in-laws found the same sale and ended up giving me several tops for Christmas too.  The nice thing about this one is it's stylish, but very practical for nursing the babe!  I like things that are stylish while being practical!!

Thanks for the supportive comments re: yesterday's post.  We will see how things work out, you just never know.  In the meantime, shirts like this will be great for pumping when I'm at work too!

Fierce

This outfit isn't my favorite attempt, but it's not the worst either.  I wore this last Thursday.  It was a bad idea only in that when I went to my OB appt and it was time to be weighed, I didn't want to take my boots off - it was enough of a chore to get them on in the first place!  So we just said they probably added an additional 2 pounds.  And they definitely kept my feet warm while I was waiting outside for my CD!

 Denim shirt - Motherhood, consignment
Sweater - Merona, Target
Leggings - Simply Vera, Kohls
Boots - Swap

At least there is something something fierce about cowboy boots and leopard print right?  Maybe just wishful thinking on my part?  I am pregnant, hear me roar?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  Today is the Pants Monkey's birthday so the fun doesn't stop! We also have birthdays for both of our dad's in the next week in addition to Thanksgiving, so I just want baby boy to stay put through all of that and then he can come any time!

Speaking of - I have received a few awesome guest posts for while I'm on maternity leave - but I could definitely use more!  Bring them on!  Feel free to email them to me any time this week - beth (at) kondrick (dot) com.  I can't wait to share the posts I've already received and I'm sure there are more awesome ones coming too!

Inspiration Monday - Cat craziness and a request

Hello friends!  Happy Monday!  Did you all have a nice weekend?  Ours was a little busier again, but not too bad.  More on that in a moment, but here is today's Inspiration Monday look from two birds - Jessica Hart.

So I have never found a trench coat that I've ever liked.  And layering is getting to be more of a challenge for me these days, so this is kind of a loose interpretation - I kind of went for the overall color scheme more than anything else!  I'm excited to be wearing a Megan Mae obi belt today - I had been thinking, there's no way I'm going to wear them again until after I have the baby, but actually, I like how it changed up the look of this sweater and kind of accentuates the bump.

 Sweater - Motherhood, consignment
Obi belt - MMD
Leggings - Simply Vera, Kohls
Boots - Target
Necklace - S&D

So yes, our weekend was a little hectic - mostly due to the cats needing to go to the vet.  It was an interesting experience bringing them both at the same time - though the vet was nice and offered us a discount for doing that.  My Pippin cat was NOT happy about being in her carrier at all and wasn't afraid to let us know.  Taylor on the other hand just kind of resigned herself to the fact that it was happening and curled up in silence.  Thankfully the vet is five minutes from our house.  Both girls seem quite healthy, though it makes me sad that Taylor is over 7 years old so she is now considered a "senior".  She has a lot of spunk and I believe will have many more good years with us yet, it's just strange to think of her that way!

After we got them home they pretty much hid from us the rest of the day, no surprise there, but at one point before we were heading out to rehearsal with our music group, we could not find Taylor anywhere.  We called for her, looked under every bed and piece of furniture and started having a panic attack when the Pants Monkey remembered he had left the front door open for just a second when bringing in some groceries.  The cats have never snuck out before, but there is a first time for everything.  So we frantically looked outside, kept on calling for her, then decided to do one more sweep of the house and thankfully found her under one cabinet we must have somehow missed.  She was just lethargic and out of it from her shots so she didn't hear us calling her and she wanted to be left alone.  Thankfully she was better yesterday! Never a dull moment sometimes.

One more thing before I go today - I am putting out a request for guest posts to be used when my son is born and the first few weeks I'm home with him - obviously blogging will be put on the back burner for me a little during that time, but I'd like to schedule some posts to keep things active around here.  So, if you're willing to submit a guest post for me, I'd love to have you!  Suggestions for topics include holiday shopping tips, holiday dressing tips, thrifty Christmas ideas, DIY, recipes, mom styling tips if you're a mom or even just a plain old OOTD post - I'm really not picky!  I'd like the posts by November 25th so I can start scheduling them.  I may reach out to some of you personally too, but I wanted to throw this out here for anyone to respond, I'd love to have each and every one of you!

Head on over to two birds for more Inspiration Monday posts!

50 Shades of Gray

Apparently I wanted to wear all the gray the day I wore this outfit!  I said it in a post last week during the color challenge though - I own a lot of gray!  It's just one of those neutrals that works with everything!

So speaking of 50 Shades of Gray - I still haven't read that book.  I do still want to because of all the hype about it and I'm still not sure how I feel about the movie.  There are many books that have transferred to the big screen very well, but many, MANY others that should just be left alone too.  At any rate, this is one I think I will want to read before seeing the movie, so I should really get on that one of these days.  Been too busy reading birthing and baby care books.  I need more fiction in my life!!

Dress - Motherhood Maternity, consignment
Sweater - F21, thrifted
Tights and boots - Target
Necklace - S&D with MMD buttonflower

And speaking of things that have colors in their titles - we finished Orange is the New Black last night which makes me saaaaaaad panda.  Love everything about that show.  I did hear it's getting another "season" so to speak so I will be anxiously awaiting new episodes.  It's almost November Sweeps anyway, so many of our regular shows should be getting good here!

Turbulant

I'm not going to lie - I don't love my outfit 100% today.  I thought this sweater would be just a wee bit longer.  Oh well, pregnant ladies are like the only people for whom leggings are acceptable as pants I think, so I guess it's all good.  I don't have to go into the clinics today anyway!  I'll just be comfy here at my desk where no one can see me!  But anyway I'm getting off track. Today's color for the Pantone color challenge is Turbulence - which is best described as kind of a slate gray.

I own SO much gray you guys.  I don't know why.  It's not the happiest color ever.  I just gravitate towards it.  I even told the girls at the swap on Sunday that I just always flock to gray and guess what, I even brought home a gray sweater from the swap.  Not the one I'm wearing today, but one I'm sure you'll see soon.  I'm not allowed to buy anymore gray though I have decided!

Sweater - Oh Baby by Motherhood via consignment
Leggings and boots - Target
Necklace - Stella and Dot

I'm excited about the color for tomorrow - it's a shade of orange and if you've followed me for awhile you know I adore orange - but I'm facing the challenge of not sure what I have in my closet that will work for me at the present moment given this lovely bump and all.  I'm going to maybe have to get creative!  But it will happen!  I'm always up for a challenge!!

Would rather be brunching

This entire outfit is courtesy of the Just Between Friends consignment sale I went to with my mom a couple of weeks ago.  I bought plenty of stuff for the baby too, trust me, but the prices were pretty darn good on maternity stuff too!  If you're a mom and you've never checked out one of those sales (they're all over the US from what I understand) look it up and head to the next one in your area - I still can't believe all the things I got for only $30.

My doctor appointment went really well yesterday.  The doctor we met was lovely!  I am happy to know there is more than one in the practice that I like enough if they're the one there on the day.  I had to laugh too, she complimented my outfit (the one pictured here, I wore it yesterday) and asked if we had plans other than going to work. She said "oh you should go out to breakfast, you just look so nice!"  Made me smile.

And of course, it's Wednesday, my one busy day of the week, so I better dive into it.  Make it a great day everyone!!

Inspiration Monday - Progress

Hey friends!  Happy Monday!  Did you all have a good weekend?  We got a lot done at our house, the baby's room is coming along nicely - we even got the crib set up!  No decorations yet, but we'll get there! And well the rest of the house looks like the spare bedroom threw up all over it, but we have some organized chaos and plans on where we'll be storing a lot of items now.  One step at a time right?

So it's Inspiration Monday and for whatever reason I couldn't get the photo from two birds to load and save on my computer at all, so I don't have the model picture - it's Julianne Hough and well, my outfit is a "if you blink" inspired look anyway.  Check out two birds and you'll see what I mean.  Oh well, I'm pregnant darn it and that's just going to be my excuse today.  I must say, I do like Julianne Hough even if I only just got into Dancing with the Stars this year and she isn't on it anymore.

Shirt - Ann Taylor, from cousin
Blazer - F21
Pants - Motherhood, consignment
Necklace - Camy Couture

So anyway, I thought I'd share a little bit of what we've got so far for the baby's room - like I said, we still need to decorate, put stuff away more neatly, etc, but you'll get the general idea!

We still have a couple more showers, so I'm hoping to get some of the decor stuff we want and can work on it after that.  But hey, at the very least, yay we have a crib!

Pinned it and Did it - Baby shower style

Hey everyone!  So I had some requests for pictures from my baby shower - we didn't get a lot, but I have some of my outfit because I was purposely saving it for today's "Pinned it and Did It" with Heather from Style Journey.  I pinned this outfit a little while back because I recently purchased a very similar sweater dress from a consignment shop.

My outfit is a little different toned, instead of brown, I paired mine with purple leggings and a gray scarf.  It was kind of chilly on Sunday, so it was kind of needed!  The next time I wear this I want to try it with some brown.

I was warm and cozy and had a lot of compliments!  And best of all - this was a very comfy outfit too!  I was also color coordinated with the decorations - totally not on purpose!

Sweater - Motherhood, consignment
Leggings - Simply Vera, Kohls
Scarf - World Market
Boots - Target

My outfit photos were courtesy of the Pants Monkey and in the last one above here he was doing something to make me laugh or talk or something. Gotta love him.

Here are a few photos from the actual shower courtesy of my aunt.  My mom has 12 brothers and sisters, so her family is quite large!  This is only a small representation.

This picture makes me laugh because I'm sitting between two aunts who both happened to be named Pat.  I joked that I was a "Patty sandwich."

I still have two more showers coming later on, so hopefully I'll have other pictures to share at some point! Our little man sure will be spoiled!

30 but not so flirty

Happy Friday!!  Did this week go by fast for anyone else?  I feel like it did over here!  No complaints about that though.  The weekend is here and even though it's going to be a rainy one, I have fun things to look forward to.  Tomorrow there is a baby/maternity consignment sale I'm going to check out with my mom.  And then Sunday I have my first baby shower with my mom's side of the family.  There's been some tough times in her family as of late so we all need an excuse to have fun and celebrate something exciting for a change!

I have another story to share.  Last night the Pants Monkey and I went to another birthing type class as we're trying to be armed with as much knowledge and tools at our disposal as possible.  It was a fairly small class, maybe seven or so couples.  The beginning of class was kind of some talking and discussing activities with our partners and then we took a break.  This one couple that was sitting in front of us seemed just totally odd.  The dad kept making kind of off the wall remarks and the mom seemed kind of controlling.  Anyway, after the break I kind of stopped paying attention to them because then we got up to try some different positions/relaxation things.  Sometime later we ended up taking another break before doing some more of these activities and I guess at that second break - the couple completely left the class!  I was so zoned on what we were doing I didn't even notice, but the Pants Monkey said that they were definitely having a heated discussion that ended in the mom walking out and the dad kind of saying "I guess she's just not feeling it."  I realized later that there was an empty floor mat and birth ball, but I just didn't think anything of it.  Kudos to the class instructor too, she just kept on going without really calling attention to it at all.  It was just the craziest thing ever!

We're on day number two of dreary, rainy weather.  We have definitely been needing this rain, but man, it makes it hard to want to get up in the morning!  I decided to wear my cute new vintage moccasins from Tandem Vintage today - they're more leathery than regular mocs and these have grips on the bottom, so I figured they'd handle the rain much better than my other suede mocs would!

Shirt - Motherhood via ThredUp
Jeans - Indigo Blue, thrifted
Sweater - Old Navy
Necklace - Bead for Life
Shoes - Vintage Minnetonka Moccasins via Tandem Vintage

And here's our weekly bump shot - 30 weeks today!  Home stretch people!  I'm feeling his weight more and more and find at the end of the day sometimes I need to get my feet up.  But overall I'm blessed to still be feeling relatively good.  I said it last week and I'll say it again, lots to get done in the next 10 or so weeks!  It's my favorite time of year though - Fall into early Winter - I love the upcoming holidays and having a new cuddly baby for Christmas is going to be just the most wonderful thing.  I get chills just thinking of it all!

Blue hues

Today was one of those fun days where the camera died before I could totally finish taking my blog pictures! I still managed to get two of them though!  I don't know that this t-shirt has actually been on the blog yet even though I've been wearing it all summer.  Best maternity t-shirt ever.  I got it early on at Old Navy and it's been a favorite ever since.

T-shirt - Old Navy Maternity
Sweater - Motherhood Maternity, consignment
Skirt - Hang Ten, from friend
Shoes - Xhiliaration from Lori
Necklace - swap w/CC

I really like the overall feel of this outfit, it's comfy, it accentuates the bump in the right way and it feels kind of summery.  It's kind of our last hurrah of summer outside today, so I figured might as well dress the part!  And it's Wednesday and it's my crazy day, so that's about all I have to say!  Hey, that rhymed!

Weekend stuffs

Good morning friends!  Happy Monday!  Did you all have nice weekends?  Thanks so much to those who left such sweet comments on my post on Friday.  I'm adjusting to my new normal and it's not so bad so far. The worst has been missing my morning orange juice and not splurging on my weekend latte, but that's been about the hardest thing!  The positive things?  Sugar free butterscotch pudding is really tasty and Crystal Light makes a margarita flavored drink mix.  I think I can rock this thing ok!

Lots of baby stuff this weekend, we took our childbirth preparation class.  Nothing makes this entire thing more real than that, let me tell you.  It was pretty awesome though - the Pants Monkey's aunt is a childbirth educator and ended up being the one teaching the class.  You might think that would be awkward for us, but actually it was really nice.  She's unbelievably awesome and makes you feel so at ease.  We learned a lot and had some great conversations about what we want when the time comes.  I'm glad we did it as early as we did so we have plenty of time to plan.

Shirt - Motherhood Maternity, consignment
Pants - Simply Vera, Kohls
Shoes - Rampage, DSW
Necklace - Vintage Pearl, gift from a friend

Sunday we slept in, then I met up with Lori and we swung into Amanda's fantastic Tandem Vintage sale. Sad panda, she had so many pretty plaid skirts that I'd love to wear this fall, but there is no way the bump will fit at this point!  That's ok though, I found some fun kitty cat earrings and a rather ridiculous cat wall hanging that I'm going to put up with another cat picture a dear friend gave me. Crazy cat lady FTW!  After the sale we went to Target so Lori could help me pick out makeup.  I definitely have some better ideas of what to do with my face now!

I headed home, had a wonderful dinner out on the deck with my Pants Monkey and then settled in to watch the Emmys - what a GIANT disappointment!  I had a mild panic attack because our TV was acting up and we don't have cable so I was worried I wasn't going to be able to watch - yeah, I don't know that it would have been the end of the world to miss this year's show.  It felt like everyone was rushing, struggling to read the teleprompter, the "In Memoriam" spotlights seemed like a good idea but were poorly executed.  And I adore Modern Family, Breaking Bad and Jim Parsons - but at the same time, spread the love a bit on the winners.  I didn't find anyone's dress all that stunning besides maybe Claire Danes - she's always a class act though, that wasn't much of a surprise.  But the show overall was just yuck.  Anyone else watch?  What did you think?

Sort of Pinspired

Hey peeps!  What better way to pass the time while I'm waiting on my 3 hr glucose than to do some blogging!  Anything to not think about food right?  Anyway, I decided to link up with Heather's Pinned and Did It Link Up again this week.  I attempted an outfit that I feel would be cuter if I wasn't pregnant, but I'll go with what I've got since I am.  Here is the pin:

Here is my take on it.  I will say - this was very cozy on the day of my 1st glucose test.  I do like this denim shirt I got at the maternity consignment shop, but I want to try this look again maybe next spring after baby as long as denim shirts are still in style by then!

Denim shirt - Motherhood Maternity, consignment
Capris - Simply Vera, Kohls
Shoes - Xhilaration, Target

Overall it was a simple and cozy look, I really did like it.  I think you should always dress cozy for doctor appointments, it makes them easier to deal with!!

Head on over to Heather's blog and check out other Pinspirations!

Sugar high

Well I'm a little bummed.  I failed my one hour glucose test yesterday.  I was actually rather surprised by this.  My number wasn't extremely high, but anything over a certain point is suspect and the test is basically pass/fail.  There is no room for "it's not that bad."

So I get to go back tomorrow and do the lovely 3 hour test and hope that I pass that one.  To be on the safe side, I'm doing a sugar detox today.  Yeah maybe that's cheating the day before my final exam, but I don't care.  I'll do whatever I can to ensure I can still enjoy some of my favorite fall goodies before the baby comes!  I'm sort of joking though - if it turns out I need to do a special diet, I'll do what I have to.  I'm just going to hope it doesn't come to that for now!

Dress - Motherhood, thrifted
Sweater - "A" brand, Herbergers
Shoes - DSW
Necklace - S&D

In other news, I'm loving this dress I bought on thrift store day.  I wasn't going to buy anymore summer clothes, but this dress, while it is like a sundress, I figured could easily be worn into winter with leggings and tights or boots.  So I was sold.  I also bought a very cute warmer sweater that day that matches it quite well.  It's not quite cold enough for that sweater today though, so I chose a lightweight sweater instead.  It's also raining today.  It's a good thing though, we kind of need it.  And it's almost a warm rain.  Kind of weird.

Anyway, that's my story for today.  I'm bringing my laptop to pass the time tomorrow as long as I can get onto the clinic's wi-fi, so at least I can keep up with all your blogs!  Wish me luck!
