Thrift Style Thursday - Winter Blues

When Andrea of Little Did You Know chose "Winter Blues" for our Thrift Style Thursday this week I was originally thinking "oh come on, it's the end of March, it's spring!" Um, wait a minute, did I forget I live in Minnesota?  This theme is perfect for this week, we totally got hit with a relapse of winter, so yes, suffering the winter blues just a little bit!  Especially after we had snow twice this week.  Blah.

I had a little trouble coming up with an entirely blue thrifted outfit.  I just don't seem to own a lot of blue clothing at all.  So, some of my items are thrifted, but some are hand me downs which is still kind of thrifty right?

I also went with a skirt even if it was cold and wintery because I just needed a change.  I love my pixie pants and colored jeans, but it's getting old wearing them all the time!  I also added a pop of color to my outfit with a fun new bag.  I have professed my love of the Stella and Dot How Does She Do It Bag that I own in pewter.  Well, I found this fun colorful version on ThredUp for a bit of a steal, so I treated myself - I had credit from having sold a couple of my own bags there, so I kind of just made an exchange I guess!

Blazer - American Eagle (thrifted), Shirt - Ann Taylor (hand me down)
Skirt and tights - Old Navy, Boots - Target
Bag - Stella and Dot (via ThredUp)

So anyway, maybe not my best attempt, but I sure did what I could with a limited blue wardrobe!  I am so ready for pastels and spring colors, I just hope the weather outside starts to cooperate more!

Make sure to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday gals and how they styled their winter blues! And come back tomorrow for an exciting giveaway from the TST team!

Thrift Style Thursday - Orange is the New Favorite

I was super excited for today's Thrift Style Thursday theme of "orange".  I love orange!  I am not sure why in the last several years it has become my favorite color, it just has.  When I was a little girl, if you asked me my favorite colors it was always pink and purple.  Then I went through an anti-pink phase in my teen years, but I still claimed purple as my favorite color - my first car was even purple.  Somehow though I've become less of a fan of purple in recent years.  I started finding myself gravitating towards oranges, corals, and peaches in recent years.  Maybe there is something about the warmth of these shades?  Either way, I love orange and I love my outfit today!

How awesome is this blazer I scored at the Goodwill?  It's suede.  I got it for a steal.  I can't wait to style it in many other ways this fall and winter!  I really like how well it matches my bird shirt though for today!

Blazer - Live A Little (thrifted), Shirt - Gap (via Instagram shop)
Pants - unknown brand (thrifted), Bag - Merona (Target)
Shoes - Steve Madden (thrifted)

I think this makes the perfect Fall outfit even if we're not really having Fall like weather this week.  It's even going to be close to 80 this weekend!  I won't complain, I know we'll be whining about snow before too long!

Do you have a favorite color?  And head on over to the Thrift Style Thursday page on Facebook for more orange!

Thrift Style Thursday - Gothic City

Today's thrift style Thursday theme is Gothically Gorgeous - I was so lost at first as to what I as going to do that I could also make appropriate for work.  Then I remembered this short sleeve blazer and suddenly I had an outfit.  Is it terribly dark?  Maybe not, but I think it works pretty well!

I am also getting the hang of this camera!  I'm pretty dang excited about that - I might even start getting more use of out of it than Nate does, ha!  He loves to take pictures when we go on vacations and such, but they often live in the camera for the rest of eternity.  It's not as much fun to take an edit them all!

Blazer - thrifted, Dress - American Eagle
Sandals - thrifted, Bag - Coach (Poshmark)

I don't make a very good goth - I was far from goth in high school.  I was the geek - the band geek, the choir geek, the drama geek.  I wrote for the paper.  I was the total geek who was just a slight bit preppy. Yet both Nate and I had some friends that probably qualified as goth.  We kind of didn't care who we hung out with, most geeks really don't, he he.

Thrift Style Thursday - Bold Brights

Two posts in one day, craziness! I wanted to still do my Thrift Style Thursday, but Oliver's monthly birthday required a separate post. So it's a two-Bethie day!  Anyway, this week's Thrift Style Thursday is bold brights.  I knew right away I'd pull out this fun bright blazer I thrifted on Mother's Day and that I actually featured on another TST post shortly after that.  It's easily the boldest, brightest item in my closet so it only made sense!

I am also experimenting with Nate's Canon EOS camera for my outfit pictures - I am hoping to get some better quality by doing so instead of using my extremely old Nikon Coolpix.  So far I think I like the results!

It is a seriously beautiful day outside, I think when Ollie wakes up from his nap we'll have to go for a little walk!  And later I have that dang dentist appointment I mentioned yesterday, but I fully intend to enjoy the day with my boy until then!

Blazer - Sweet Child (thrifted), Tank top - Motherhood Nursing top
Jeans - American Eagle (thrifted), Necklace - Butterfly Boutique

I'm looking forward to 4th of July festivities tomorrow too, we have some picnicking to do but before that we're checking out another flea market since Nate is on a holy mission to find old school Nintendo games.  It will be a full day I think, but hopefully a fun one!  I may or may not get to post tomorrow - so I shall wish all my fellow US friends a happy and safe 4th of July now just in case!

Thrift Style Thursday - Brilliant Blazers

I worried I would have to sit this week's Thrift Style Thursday out - I didn't have a blazer I felt was "Brilliant" and I was having some trouble finding one - until we went to the thrift store on Mother's Day and I found this one!  It's one of the boldest things I own now and even a little out of my comfort zone -  yes I love orange and peach and those shades - but this is definitely more bright/neon than what I usually go for!  The Pants Monkey said it looked good though, so I had to give it a chance!

Blazer - Sweet Child (thrifted), Dress - American Eagle (very old)
Shoes - Dr. Scholl's (DSW), Necklace - teether necklace (Zulily)

Then after I got it home, I worried I wouldn't find something to wear it with - then I realized it goes with basic black if nothing else and actually, I think I have some other ideas too, but I went the safe route with black for today.  Mr. Monkey said he liked the combination this morning, so I always feel pretty good when I get his stamp of approval!

Oliver is digging this blazer too - it was almost a little too distracting for him when I was nursing him this morning!  I'll have to make sure I pull it off later before feeding him.  He's super into colors right now, so I shouldn't be surprised!
