Thrift Style Thursday - To The Max

I missed out on Thrift Style Thursday last week while I was on vacation, but I'm back at it this week! Our theme was chosen by Megan of Traverse - maxi dresses.  I was all over this one!  I still triple love maxi dresses and maxi skirts for summer.  I was surprised however when I opened my closet that only one of my maxi dresses is actually thrifted.  I wore it in a post just a few weeks ago in fact, but this summer is all about mixing my closet, so you'll just get to see it again!

I snagged this dress at the Blogger Garage Sale I participated in a few weeks ago.  I couldn't resist the gray stripes and I thought it would replace a gray dress I had that is actually too big for me at this point.  I am in love with this dress, it's so comfy!  I see so many other potential ways to style it, but today I kind of turned it into a skirt by adding this gray top to it.

Shirt - Express (thrifted), Dress - Old Navy (garage sale)
Necklaces - swap and Stella and Dot, Purse - Chala

It's a bit rainy outside today, but a maxi skirt still works well on a rainy day too.  And hey, you can't beat not having to shave your legs, am I right ladies?  And I also got compliments from the hubby on this look too which pretty much means it's a winner.

Yep, this is pretty much going to be my summer uniform I think!  Perfect for warm or cool days, just can't beat it!

Thrift Style Thursday - Cinco De Mayo

Happy Thrift Style Thursday!  And happy belated Cinco De Mayo!  This week's theme was chosen by yours truly.  I thought it would be fun to create a festive outfit to celebrate Cinco De Mayo and since a lot of places around here celebrate all week long, figured it also doesn't matter that it's no longer May 5th!  So, here is what I came up with!

For some reason, when I think of something Mexican inspired, I think of reds and oranges, so I wanted to feature those colors.  Probably because I'm thinking of spicy red peppers!  I added this fun scarf and even wore it a couple of different ways here - it would be a good shall for a cool evening celebration, but I also just wore it around my neck as well for  different look.

We're pretty big fans of margaritas and Mexican food at our house.  I think we have a Mexican style meal just about once a week, so it's always like Cinco de Mayo! We rotate between tacos, fajitas and nachos.  Once we start getting good fresh veggies from our CSA we'll rotate in Nate's awesome homemade enchiladas too.  I shared the recipe for those last summer in this post if your curious!

Shirt - Express (thrifted), Dress - thrifted
Scarf - Garage Sale, Sandals - Target

Our Cinco de Mayo was low key, we enjoyed a margarita and nachos at home.  If we had gone out somewhere though I would likely have worn this fun outfit!  It'll just have to do for a day at the office instead, I'll just have a fiesta at my desk.  Desk Fiesta, ole!

Thrift Style Thursday - Spring Cleaning

The theme for this week's Thrift Style Thursday was chosen by Megan from Traverse and she challenged us to clean out our closets and bring something out that hasn't seen the light of day in awhile.  I have been in constant clean out mode lately so it seemed like this theme would be easy - but the first item I chose actually no longer fit and I will admit to scrambling a bit and cheating slightly, but regardless, here's my look for today!

I wish we were having more spring like weather this week, but it's been cold and rainy, so I instead chose to sort of winterize a spring-y item.  And now you're wondering, how is this cheating the theme this week?  Well, this dress (that I'm wearing as a skirt) isn't THAT old.  I bought it last year from a fellow TST member's Storenvy site.  But, I haven't worn it since last summer, so it's kind of bringing an old item back to life.  The item that is getting worn for the first time in almost two years is my star sweater - and it wasn't actually thrifted.  So that's my story, honesty is the best policy right?  I gave it my best shot this week!

Sweater - Mossimo (Target), Dress - via Buttons and Birdcages Storenvy
Tights - Old Navy, Shoes - DSW
Bag - Stella and Dot (ThredUp)

I really like how this look turned out though even if it wasn't my original intended look for the day! As I clean out my closet I am finding more and more things that I'm sadly just getting rid of instead of breathing new life into them!  Guess it just means I'll be doing a little more thrifting instead of shopping my own closet!

Check out what the other Thrift Style Thursday ladies found in their closets as they cleaned them out at their blogs below!
