Thrift Style Thursday - To The Max

I missed out on Thrift Style Thursday last week while I was on vacation, but I'm back at it this week! Our theme was chosen by Megan of Traverse - maxi dresses.  I was all over this one!  I still triple love maxi dresses and maxi skirts for summer.  I was surprised however when I opened my closet that only one of my maxi dresses is actually thrifted.  I wore it in a post just a few weeks ago in fact, but this summer is all about mixing my closet, so you'll just get to see it again!

I snagged this dress at the Blogger Garage Sale I participated in a few weeks ago.  I couldn't resist the gray stripes and I thought it would replace a gray dress I had that is actually too big for me at this point.  I am in love with this dress, it's so comfy!  I see so many other potential ways to style it, but today I kind of turned it into a skirt by adding this gray top to it.

Shirt - Express (thrifted), Dress - Old Navy (garage sale)
Necklaces - swap and Stella and Dot, Purse - Chala

It's a bit rainy outside today, but a maxi skirt still works well on a rainy day too.  And hey, you can't beat not having to shave your legs, am I right ladies?  And I also got compliments from the hubby on this look too which pretty much means it's a winner.

Yep, this is pretty much going to be my summer uniform I think!  Perfect for warm or cool days, just can't beat it!

Thrift Style Thursday - Trending

This week for Thrift Style Thursday, Martyna of Spoolish challenged us to create a look that rivals those on the runway and thrift something that is trending this spring.  Well, let me tell you, I had to do some research because I'm not up on the current trends as much as I pretend to be.  I even bought actual magazines you guys, this is a big deal, I never do that anymore!  In this month's issue of Redbook, there were some outfits put together with just a few key pieces in your closet, one being floral with stripes.  And then in this month's issue of Lucky, there was an article about a basic red/navy striped t-shirt being a good item to have in your closet.  I saw this shirt at the Goodwill and decided to start my "trendy" outfit with this t-shirt as the base.

I pulled out one of my oldest maxi dresses at this point and decided the "stripes with floral" would be how I would style this for today.  The magazines also both talked about floral scarves still being popular this year, so I added that.  I also noticed that metallics are still in fashion, so I added my favorite Stella and Dot bag.

And then both magazines also talked about denim at length - so I decided since it was chilly this morning I would add a denim jacket as well.

Jacket - Old Navy (thrifted), T-shirt - Gap (thrifted)
Dress - Cliche Mpls, Bag - Stella and Dot
Scarf - garage sale

So there you have it.  I don't know if I'm "runway chic" with this look or not, but apparently these are things that all the cool kids will be wearing this spring and thanks to Echosmith, I want to be like the cool kids, cause all the cool kids seem to get it.

Inspiration Monday - Fast Weekend

Happy Monday!  Did anyone else think the weekend went way too fast?  I sure did!  It was a really good one though and it seems the best ones are the ones that always go too quickly.  Anyway, taking the sting off the end of the weekend is a fun inspiration from two birds.  I loved this look from Britt Robertson.

I had a different top in mind when I saw the one she was wearing, but as soon as I put it on today I was like, ew, Frump City, so my favorite polka dot top from ModCloth won the prize of being worn today instead.  I added a light sweater because spring in MN is fickle. It'll be warmer later today for possibly going with bare arms!  I also like that adding this sweater brought in just a little color. While I like the classic feel of a black and white look, I can't help liking a pop of color too!

 Sweater - I Love H81 (thrifted), Top - ModCloth
Pants - Denzien (Target), Necklace - Stella and Dot
Shoes - Anne Klein (from cousin)

So as I said above, it was a good weekend.  We pretty much had our entire weekend free to do whatever we wanted, when we wanted and while those are the best type of weekends, they can leave you almost as exhausted by the end!  We stayed in on Friday because of the rain, but Saturday was gorgeous and aside from Ollie's naptime I think we were pretty much outside the entire day.  And in fact, Nate and I even sat outside during his nap!  The best weekends end with you falling into bed and pretty much passing out from an overdose of fresh air!  I hope you all had a good weekend too!  And be sure to check out two birds over here for more Inspiration Monday looks!
