Thrift Style Thursday - Pinspired New Year

It's technically still January, so we can still consider that the New Year right?  Anyway, it's one of my favorite days of the week - Thrift Style Thursday!  This week, Andrea from Little Did You Know chose the theme of Pinspired New Year.  Those that have been following my blog for awhile know that I love using Pinterest for outfit ideas.  I'm in the midst of playing along on the January Pinned It Spinned It Challenge on Instagram - but while I love that, those aren't necessarily outfits that I chose, so I took a break from that today to instead create an outfit from one of my own pins that I've had pinned for a very long time actually!  Here is the outfit.

Cozy sweater, chambray shirt, scarf, leggings and boots?  Um, yeah, I can rock this.  It's actually not extreme cold here today, but I still like being warm and cozy and comfortable - kind of need comfort due to the lady business if you catch my drift.  Comfort is good at that time sometimes, amiright girls?

I got this cream sweater at a clothing swap right towards the end of my pregnancy and I loved it while I was pregnant, but I still love it now.  There's something about an oversized sweater and leggings. And of course I love my denim shirt and owl scarf!

Sweater - swap, Denim shirt - American Eagle (thrifted)
Leggings - Simply Vera (Kohls), Scarf - Secret Santa exchange
Boots - Target

Might not be the most exciting outfit recreation ever, but I sure like how it turned out!  Pinterest sure helps me shop my own closet though, that is for sure!  Be sure to check out all the other Thrift Style Thursday gals at their blogs below and see what types of pinned looks they recreated!

TGIF

TGIF man.  It's been a week.  It was even a short week since I was off on Tuesday for Ollie's doctor appointment and such but it was still one of those weeks.  Work was interesting, the Pants Monkey was gone for those few days, the baby's been cranky and there were a few other little things that kind of got me down, but now it's Friday and there was great rejoicing throughout the land!

The weekend will be interesting.  My cousin is getting married tomorrow - and it's supposed to take place outside - and it's supposed to rain.  It might even downpour.  They have an indoor option, but it won't be ideal if that happens.  It would really be unfortunate if it started to rain right during the ceremony and it really sounds like that's the kind of day it could be tomorrow, so I guess we will see what happens!

Sunday is Father's Day and I intend to spoil my Pants Monkey and give him as awesome of a day as he gave me for Mother's Day.  He has mentioned a desire to take Ollie to this man made beach that is near us so we'll see what the weather is doing on Sunday - my only fear is it may not be warm enough, but we'll wait and see!

Owl shirt - thrifted, Sweater - Mossimo (Target)
Jeans - American Eagle (thrifted), Shoes - from cousin
Bag - Coach (eBay)

It's really too bad the wedding isn't today - it's absolutely gorgeous out today!  We're going to kick off the weekend the right way by grilling for dinner and sitting out on our deck!  I hope you all have a great weekend too!

Owl love

I'm still at it with my ban on pants!  I may break it by tomorrow - it's Friday and I can wear jeans and I hear it's going to be raining (raining?) here so I might not be in the mood for a skirt.  We'll see!  Today, I attempted to dress up my owl sweater a little bit.  Figured the pink feet and beak might make it work ok with my pink pencil skirt.

I think it works ok together.  This isn't my favorite outfit this week, but like I said, it works!  And you just can't go wrong with an owl!  I feel like I should give this little guy a name!

 Sweater - Kohls
Skirt - two birds vintage, b. (a resale shop)
Shoes - Rampage, thrifted
Necklace - Bead for Life

We have an owl living somewhere near my house - he's kind of fun to listen to, unless it's 4 in the morning and you're having trouble sleeping.  Fortunately with the headcold I had, I've been sleeping hard at night, but I know there's going to come a night where I'm going to be like "shut up owl!!"

I really do love owls though - I decorate my house with them!  They have to be kind of whimsical in nature though.  And speaking of owls - I had to share this graphic I saw on my friend's FB, it's too funny.

Owly

TGIF, am I right?  Whew, what a long feeling week.  I'm wearing my owl shirt today and it's somewhat appropriate as I felt a bit owly this morning.  I was dreaming when the alarm went off and it was a very odd dream at that and I could NOT wake myself up.  You ever have that feeling?  And then you're just in a fog? That's where I'm at.  I have coffee now though and I'm going to do my best to turn this around because after all, it IS Friday!!

It's also cloudy and threatening rain, so I kept it indoors this morning.  No kitty photo bombs this time.  They were both already curled up on our bed, they know how to spend this kind of day!  I am excited though, our weekend isn't terribly full.  Usually we have a rehearsal and church with our music group but we're off this weekend while our director is out of town.  So we have tonight free and all day tomorrow!  Sunday we have Easter with the Pants Monkey's family.  Tonight I think we're staying in and having movie night but tomorrow we just might go adventuring, you never know!

I had a pedicure last night!  So now I can wear sandals!  I don't think it's going to be super warm today but I didn't care, I wanted to show off my pretty new toes, so I'm just going with it!  I chose a green colored polish - which was totally not what I was originally intending to do.  I was going to do purple or peach, then saw this green and thought, ooh I want that!  I think I'm going to take my mom for a pedicure for Mother's Day so if I decide I don't like the green, Mother's Day is only a month away.

I think I like the green though!  The lady who did my nails said it was a nice color green and not too "juvenile".  I agree with her!  Oh and these sandals - so comfy.  They were my mom's and she didn't like the heel on them.  I think she got them at DSW.  The name is too funny - Duck Head.

With that, I shall wish you a happy Friday and happy weekend!  Perhaps my free day tomorrow will include shopping, just because I can!  You never know!

Outfit rundown:
T-shirt - Energie, thrifted
Sweater - Old Navy
Jeans - Old Navy
Sandals - Duck Head (from mom)
Necklace - Premier Jewelry

Friday outfit post

I wanted to do an outfit post today, but wanted to keep it separate from this week's FBFF topic, since that one is all about giving thanks.

I had a great day off yesterday with my friend, we got our CDs after freezing in the cold for a bit.  We walked around the mall and had lunch out.  I was a good girl while shopping too and while I did treat myself to a couple of small things now that the "shopping ban" is over, I didn't go overboard.

The only new thing I have on today is the necklace.  I got it yesterday at Forever 21 and it was the deal of the century - $2.80!  Crazy!

Going to be a nice day out today so I went for simple layers.  Tomorrow I hear snow is in the forecast.  Hopefully it won't be too bad, the Pants Monkey and I are going out to have an early birthday celebration just the two of us.

Isn't the owl cute?  I still can't believe I got him for such a good deal.  This is possibly my new favorite thing ever.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Rundown:
T-shirt: "My Favorite Tee" purchased at Herbergers
Sweater: Old Navy
Jeans: LOFT thrifted from Clothes Mentor
Necklace: Forever 21
