Inspiration Monday on a Tuesday

Since I didn't have an idea for an outfit for the Pinned It Spinned It challenge for today, I thought I'd swing back and hit up the Inspiration Monday look for the week from two birds instead!  I saw this cute striped dress from January Jones and knew I had several options in my closet that would work!

I just love black and white stripes.  I realized this weekend I have a few striped items!  Anyway, I pulled together kind of a double stripe thing with a dress and a jacket - and leggings because while it's warming up here in MN, it's chilly in the mornings some days!  It's a good thing I did too, my office was an ice box when I got to work today!  I also am wearing a pair of the shoes I got from my cousin.

Jacket - F21, two birds garage sale
Dress - swap
Leggings - Simply Vera, Kohls
Shoes - Michael Kors, from cousin
Necklace - gift from friend

Seeing January Jones up there reminds that Mad Men is starting up again.  We're a few seasons behind, but have found that Amazon streaming has some of the seasons we need to catch up on, so I think we'll be doing that soon since one of our other shows (Shameless) just finished it's season.  I love Amazon streaming, it really helps with binge watching tv shows and you can stop and pause and restart if you need to which we've done a couple of nights if Ollie wakes up and needs us.  It's worth my Prime membership, I'll say that much!

Meow

Hello!  Happy Monday!  I'm back with another look for Pinned It Spinned It.  Today we have a denim top and leopard skirt - two things I easily had in my closet!!

I'm not sure if I have things for each of the outfits this week, but I at least can do a couple of them!  I tell you it's been kind of nice not having to think too hard about what to wear each day!

Denim shirt - American Eagle, thrifted
Skirt - Tandem Vintage
Boots - Target

Did you all have nice weekends?  I went and picked up the shoes from my cousin - some very cute ones, I can't wait to share them soon!  We finally got some more spring like weather, so we took advantage by going for a couple of walks with Oliver and grilling for dinner.  I'm so glad it seems to finally be here to stay! And it's home opener for the MN Twins today - so that means it has to be spring for good right? Here's hoping!

Go home Mother Nature, you're drunk

We just got hit with another spring snowstorm.  I heart Minnesota so hard, I really do love living here, but these last couple of winter-springs have been just ugly!! But hey, for today's Pinned It Spinned It I can at least pretend it's spring with a pretty mint sweater.

Here's a little secret too - I actually wore this outfit yesterday before it snowed.  I also wish I had thought to wear these cute leopard shoes I have, I didn't realize it until looking at the pin again that she has a leopard belt on.  Oh well.  This was the pin that caught my eye when I first saw the April calendar and I thought - hey, I can do that outfit!  And then I saw some of the others and realized, I can do a bunch of these!  It's been fun so far.

Sweater - Mossimo, swap
Tank top - Old Navy
Pants - Old Navy
Shoes - Mudd, Kohls

I'm also sharing day six of the challenge here today too - I realized that I kind of dressed like the pin without even trying - this is probably as close as I could get since I don't have white jeans.  And boots were a necessity with the snow today!!

I'm warm and cozy and dry.  Who knew that would be a concern on April 4th of all times.  Seriously. We've been joking at work about running away to Florida.

Flannel - Ruff Hewn, thrifted
Sweater and jeans - Old Navy
Boots - Target

And in other news, Oliver's appointment went very well yesterday - he seems to have handled his shots better this time!  And we were a little over estimated on his weight, he weighed in at 16lbs, 1oz.  I think his weight growth has slowed a bit due to last week's hunger strike, but with his appetite this week I won't be surprised to see it jump again.  He's still slightly ahead of the curve on his weight!  There's a reason I sometimes call my boy "pumpkin" and not "peanut"!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oliver - 4 months

My sweet boy is 4 months old!  I said it yesterday - time flies by!  It's insane!  Time for our monthly update!

Weight - We'll get confirmation at the doctor later today, we think he's somewhere around 16 1/2 pounds
Length - 25 1/2"

Nicknames - Buddy, Buddy Boy, Ollie, Monkey, Monkey Butt, Pumpkin, Sir, Mr. Man, Little Man, Munchkin, The Captain, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Sleep - More or less the same as last month, still doing three to four hour chunks at a time, still waking for night feeds.  I don't mind so much, he has started letting me sleep in on weekends so I catch up a little then. This week I think we might be entering the dreaded four month sleep regression though, we've had a few more wakeful moments at night this week. He still goes down really nice for his first chunk of night sleep though and we get a little grown up time to actually eat a hot meal and such!

Eating - Tons.  Went through a bit of a hunger strike when he started teething and also while he dealt with having his daddy's cold, but now seems to be back to normal, takes both breast and bottle like a champ.

Diapers - Still in size two but we're really needing to move to threes.  We are trying to use up what we have left, but he really needs to be moved up to threes pronto.  Hopefully we'll be in threes for awhile!

Clothes - We're doing 6-9 month sizes now.  If he keeps going at this rate he'll be wearing 18 month stuff before his first birthday.  Crazy!  Slow down kid, you're getting too big!

Mood - It's been another up and down month - just when we got over some fussy issues and outgrowing the laryngomalacia, we started teething!  Lucky us!  So there have been some rough days again - but there have been more happy days too.  When this kid is happy, he is SUPER happy.  He loves to play in his jumperoo. We go for walks outside when it's nice and he loves that too.  But we joke he is now Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, if his mouth starts bugging him, watch out, he'll turn in an instant and then he's very unhappy.  At least each day we get some smiles even if he's had a tough day, so I'll take it.  He is also talking tons these days, lots and lots of babbles and funny sounds - it's hilarious unless it's 4 in the morning. ;)

Loves - His jumperoo, his stroller and being outside, bathtime, his elephant toy, when mommy and daddy read him books, chewing on his hands, having his hair combed and being told he is a "handsome boy", kicking on his floor gym, cooing, talking all the time, getting the final word.

Dislikes - Teething (That goes for mommy as well), being startled (like if someone sneezes), being woken from a nap (the "let sleeping babies lie thing is SO true), pacifiers (I'm so sad on this one!!  I guess we don't have to take it away later at least).

Milestones/what I want to remember - Well obviously starting teething is a milestone, though not a fun one, it still counts.  Our first trip to the zoo.  Evening family walks.  Mommy upgrading to a new car.  First road trip and first wedding.  Rocking to sleep and singing lullabies.

For fun, I made a couple of collage pictures too that show how much he's grown.  The first is all of his monthly photos to date.

And this next one is of him at three weeks and then at three months and three weeks.  He was such a peanut and now he's a chunky monkey!

Starting this month too I am going to include a monthly letter to my boy - he is so worth all the tough days and sleepless nights - I can't imagine life without him.

Dear Ollie,
You are now four months old and you are truly discovering the world around you.  If the last couple of weeks are any indication of the kind of person you are going to be, then you are going to have such a zest for life and a spirit to be envied.  Never lose your sense of wonder, never stop discovering new things, never stop learning.  You are such a joy to your daddy and me - you make us laugh with your crazy gibberish talk and your enthusiasm when playing in your jumping toy.  You even make us laugh when you get unhappy sometimes - especially when instead of crying you start "complain yelling".  I know you sometimes have a bad day because your mouth hurts and if I could take that pain away I'd do it in a heartbeat.  Stay strong little man, this too will pass.  I need to tell myself the same thing when you wake me multiple times in a night - I know it means you're just learning so much right now and it sometimes overwhelms you, even in sleep sometimes you just need some comfort.  I will always give you that comfort.  You will never be alone my sweet boy.  You're embracing the world with open arms and I can't wait to see the boy you're going to be - but I am cherishing you now as baby.  You are the light of my life.
Love,
Mama

Pretty in Pink

I was so excited when I saw the pin for today's Pinned It Spinned It look - I totally had the perfect skirt!  I usually pull this one out more in the summer, so it was kind of fun to build a look around it for a colder day.

Yes, it is cold here again.  Not bone chilling cold, but enough that I had to go with tights under my skirt.  I didn't have cute pink shoes like the ones in the pin either, so I opted for my short boots.  I'm super excited though - my cousin has some shoes for me!  If you're a newer reader of my blog - I have a cousin who is a high power executive that wears the same sizes as me and periodically sends her cast offs my way when she updates her wardrobe.  So, I am pretty sure the shoes will be amazing.  I'm hoping to go get them this weekend!

Sweater - Mossimo, Target
Tank top - Liz Lange nursing top, Target
Skirt - Cliche Mpls
Tights and Boots - Target
Necklace - Stella and Dot

I'll be taking a little break from outfit of the day posts tomorrow - it's time for Oliver's four month update as he will be four months tomorrow!  I can't believe how fast the time is going, we're getting closer to the half year mark already!  We also have his four month checkup tomorrow - I'm not happy that he'll be getting shots again, poor pumpkin, but I am excited to see how much he weighs since we aren't able to easily check for ourselves at home anymore.  He maxed out the scale we were using! He's my chunky monkey!

It's all happening!

Oh man, you guys, I'm so excited.  April is going to be a pretty exciting month around here - no fooling!  First off, I've decided to join in on a Pinterest challenge for the month.  Heather from Style Journey (who is sadly no longer blogging but still posts outfits on Instagram) and some other gals are hosting this challenge and when I saw their calendar, I realized I could totally do it.  Check out #PinnedItSpinnedIt on both Instagram and Pinterest for more information.  I may not hit every day with this, but it will be fun way to try and remix my wardrobe as we march into spring! Here is the calendar (screenshot off my iPhone).

And here is the outfit for day one - very nice neutral outfit with browns and camel tones.  I don't think I could handle heels quite that tall though!

I made a little collage for my Instagram showing the pieces I chose to put this look together.  I actually pulled a shirt out of my giveaway pile - guess this is helping me re-think some of my clothing!

So here you have it - my Anthro pants, vintage black top, fun shoes that are a little more sensible than the ones in the pin and a Stella and Dot necklace.  I like how this turned out.  I'm really looking forward to the rest of this challenge too!  If I don't blog an outfit I hope to still add it to Instagram - so follow me there if you aren't - @BethieTheBoo.

Shirt - two birds vintage via b (a resale shop)
Pants - Anthropologie, thrifted
Shoes - Etienne Aigner, thrifted
Necklace - Stella and Dot

What else is exciting in April?  I have a couple of fun reviews coming up for the blog, I am trying out a Stitch Fix box for the first time (yeah it's a splurge, we'll see how it goes), Oliver turns 4 months old this week, and spring should be springing soon!  We had a taste of it over the weekend and yesterday - but now we're plunged back into winter.  Nice April Fools joke from Mother Nature.  Oh well.  Anyway, it's going to be a fun month around here, so stay tuned!

Inspiration Monday - A wonderful weekend

Hello everyone!  Welcome to another fun filled week!  Did you all have good weekends?  I had a much better weekend than last weekend!  I'll get to all of that in a minute, but first up, Inspiration Monday with two birds.  The model this week is Poppy DeLavigne, who has been an IM model before, but I still don't know who she is....I'm so out of touch with life.  Anyway, here is her look.

I'm totally coveting those pants - I have never tried snake print though!  Anyway, here's my total blink if you look outfit - I tried.  I wanted to keep it work appropriate and had a hard time finding just the right thing, so yeah, not my greatest attempt, but here it is!

Sweater - Mossimo, Target, swap
Pants - Style&Co, Macy's (old)
Shoes you can't see well due to my extra long pants - Steve Madden, thrifted

So the weekend was fantastic.  Oliver is getting over his cold.  He went to bed nice for us on Friday night and we streamed a grown up movie off of Amazon that is actually recent!  That is a big deal people! We watched American Hustle.  It was really good!  I was impressed with how well the costuming reflected the time period and the acting was good too.  I highly recommend it!

Saturday I actually got to go out for a little bit sans baby in the morning to go shop with my mom, she wanted to get a new dress for Easter and a wedding we have in the family later this spring, so The Pants Monkey hung out with Ollie and I went with her.  It's rare to get out and do something like that these days!  After I got home we were going to go somewhere for lunch with Ollie but he was a little on the cranky side so we opted to stay home.  He was really sleepy on Saturday - maybe still recovering a bit - so we just let him nap as much as he wanted.  We did go out on a nice family walk since the weather was good.  We ended up renting a movie that evening too - a movie called Drinking Buddies that was pretty cute.  We also grilled for dinner - yum!

Sunday was my favorite - we took Oliver for his very first visit to our local zoo!  I adore this zoo we have nestled in the middle of the city.  I've been itching to bring him there and since the weather was finally decent it was just the day to go.  He loved it!  I have to share a couple of pictures.

He wasn't too into a lot of the animals which I kind of expected - though he did show some interest in the penguins seen above here and also the giraffes and kudu - I think because we could get him nice and close to those.  He also loved the indoor Conservatory - tons of plants and greenery, I think he liked all the color.

When he gets a little older we'll come back and take a picture of him sitting on this turtle, but for now I figured a picture next to the turtle would work!  There were lots of other folks out enjoying the nice day there - we got there plenty early though and were able to get a good parking spot and were more or less done before it got super crowded.  We stopped at one of our favorite delis to get sandwiches for lunch on the way home.  Then Ollie took a nice long nap and mama got a haircut.  It was even warmer when he woke up so we went on one more walk.  The weather isn't going to be as nice the rest of this week so we figured, better soak it up while we can!

Overall it was just a lovely weekend, we had some really nice quality family time.  I'm so ready for spring to be here to stay, I hope it will be soon.
